Illoman

I haven't had a weekly find in months. Today we were continuing our task of cleaning our my dad's condo. It's a good thing I am so anal about going through every square inch of every box. I found both of these in a box earmarked for Goodwill!!

These are left over from my ninth birthday party!!!! I absolutely could not believe it! Back in the day I was a huge Banana Splits fan. To see these plates really took me back. There are three of them, all the same design.

These were obviously bought but never used. They have a copyright date of 1966 on them and are still sealed in the bag!!

Radioactive Rod Whitenack

Sweet! I had that Batman and Robin too. They were birthday cake decorations! Those really take me back!

Unknown Primate

My cousin had that Batman & Robin perched atop his birthday cake, and I wanted that Batman so bad!  It was his big day, though - not mine  :'(...

How awesome are those Banana Splits plates? Oh man! I loved them as a kid, even joined the fan club, and had an iron-on patch of Snorky on my favorite coat! My favorite was Bingo though and I was him for Halloween one year. That's a great discovery Mike -and of course, the Batman and Robin are sweet too!

Monolith

Illoman---  Nice find on the Banana Splits plate. I always loved watching the Banana Splits!

I have a Popeye paper plate that is from one of my birthdays when I was little, too. It looks very similar to your Banana Splits plate...

I also still have a matching cup...

Monolith

Illoman---  Your Batman and Robin are in fantastic condition! They were made by ideal in 1966. They were sold in sets and on a bubble card and also as a big Justice League playset. The full set of heroes includes Wonder Woman, the Flash, Aquaman, Superman, Batman and Robin. They also made some unpainted villains and the heroes were also made unpainted, too. Here's my set...The red and silver robot in back is also part of the set. And to the right you can see a blue unpainted Batman and the leg of an unpainted Robin.

....and that Flash and robot is worth a pretty penny, Mono!

Monolith, *love* that Popeye!!! And it's got the Jeep and Swee' Pea as well!

The Batman and Robin were in a plastic bag, stapled shut and appear to be unused. It's doubtful my Mom would have bought them and not used them back then but it appears that is the case. Unless she used them, washed off the icing from their feet and put them back in the bag, I really don't know. Your collection is amazing...

The Creeper

I had the Batman, Robin, Superman, and Wonder Woman on a birthday cake when I was a kid in the 70's.  I remember playing with them all the time.  Wish I still had them.
Long live the UMA!

TheHoldingCoat

The Popeye plate and cup are great! Love the Segar-style illustration. Hey, what's that weird red robot on the right between Lone Ranger and Ultra-Man?

There was something so quaint and so fiddly about the early Viewmaster sets, with their inner sleeves, little booklets, etc. When I become a "Star Trek" fan in 1980, it was fun getting the then-current "Star Trek: The Motion Picture" set, then remembering that I'd seen an original series set somewhere. I think I went to about 20 shops in two days while I tried to recall where I'd seen it. Then a few weeks later, I realised I needed "Mr Spock's Time Trek" ("Yesteryear"), the animated series ep., and the search began anew. With "Star Trek II", View-masters had switched to carded packaging - and no booklet - and it's never really been the same since...
