Vintage fake Vampire blood is awesome!

UNBELIEVABLE:   For a mere $10 on Ebay, I got a used tube of Imagineering Vampire Blood from about 1973.  75-80% full, and still liquid.   I had been hoping and waiting to find something like this!  I have some sealed examples in the package, but what I really wanted was something that was already unsealed, so that there would be no reason not  to mess around with it.

When they arrived, I did something I've been wanting to do for decades--squeeze a little bit of the Vampire Blood onto the back of my hand, and marvel at the cherry-red, not-quite-realistic-but-let's-not-be-too-picky color of the liquid.  It used to be such fun doing this back in the day!

I know it sounds so small and simple, but in a way it is a found Grail.

I remember going in to Woolworths like it was yesterday and buying a tube of that stuff. So I guess it held up after all these years?

Yeah!  I was expecting it to be curdled up or discolored, but it was basically fine.  After what, 38 years?  Weird!  But it was fine.  This was one of the early tubes, with the replaceable threaded twist-off cap.  Later on there was a cheaper twist-off with a plug instead of the threads.  The threaded cap is the one I remember from the farthest back.  Joy!

I don't have a lot of Imagineering pieces, just a few, but they're very special to me because they were so popular in the neighborhood with all the Dracula wannabes.  Most popular were the glow fangs, the evil eyes, the Vampire Blood, and the Scar Stuf.   Seemed like everybody had those at one time or another.
Beautiful moving, shifting colors!

The question I have is...does it smell the same?  I will never forget that unique smell that the fake blood had.  I would love to get a whiff of that again!  Talk about a Halloween flashback!

It was a very distinctive scent.

I'll try to post pics over the weekend but recently I have acquired all 6 Marx monster in orange. Most in decent shape , a couple missing a finger or two. Marx GLOW Creech , Frank ,Wolfie and Phantom. I love those and they are my new bed time night lite. I try to see how long it takes for the glow to die out but I can never stay awake that long. An original Purple MPC Pop Top Witch, FINALLY YES!. A teal Marx Creech. Mexican repop vile green Frank ,Creech. Vile green mummy which is still in transit from Mexico. 1991 Rubies Vacuform Creech Mask and a 1981 bagged "Scratch Cats" Halloween jointed figs from Beistle. Even the hang tag tab is intact so no way I'm popping these open. Some other stuff on the way as well. Just paid off a BIG chunk of my CC that I use for Ebay and here I go racking it up again.

I was out shopping today and hit the local Goodwill. I usually never have any luck there, but today I found this for .50!:

It's missing two pieces, but you can't go wrong at that price ;) I also hit the local Big Lots. I didn't find any movies I wanted, but I did pick up one of those Dancin' Frankenstein dolls that Hallmark had last year. They retailed for $14.95 last year, but Big Lots had them for $5.00. I also received a Fisher-Price Frankenstuff doll from 1992. He was a recent eBay win:

I have had zero luck with goodwill. I love the puzzles in a can. I have a few Batman and Planet of The Apes puzzles.

That is a great find even with the 2 missing pieces. You can always do re-pros , the can art is awesome and pristine from what I see. I bought a Mint in ok can wolf man puzzle a couple years ago for $10 delivered. So if you never ever display the puzzle the can with art is worth 10-15X what you paid. Nice score. 8)

I've had no luck with Goodwill either.......seems to always be picked over in my opinion. Went into one several months ago.......looked around......and spotted a 60's Remco 727 battery op plane hanging from the ceiling. Those planes are huge . One employee referred me to another employee and on-and-on till I get this guy with a why-are-you-bothering-me attitude. "That plane? That's not for sale" he says. Without a word I walked away......which I could see didn't phase him. I think the "contributions" to Goodwill should be sold as an intended donation.......but that's just me.... that guy has probably taken the plane home by now.....Buddy

I haven't done too bad at Goodwill.........Herman Munster big head, a porcelain Godzilla sake server from the '80s (from Japan), a "Dark Shadows" album, a publisher-issued Charlton Heston autographed biography, 3 1976 King Kong drinking glasses. I'm sure I spent less than $10 on the whole lot.
We're all here because we're not all there.
