That's too good an idea not to steal. I'm gonna have to track down one of those machines! Thanks for the pics!

The Flintstones meet the Gruesomes by Therin of Andor, on Flickr

Love my "Flintstones meet the Gruesomes" picture book (1965), found in a second hand shop a few years ago for $4 - a rather different version of the Gruesomes' comic book and TV origins I remember as a kid - and my newish glow-in-the-dark Weirdly and Gobby Gruesome figures, with Creepella and Schneider backing card.

Great Gruesomes stuff! I have some wrapping paper from the '70's with the Gruesomes on it and some Flintstones comics with the Gruesomes in them and the old Monster Shindig record with the Gruesomes.

Best not to argue with the gorilla-man Char, it's not healthy.  UP says you rock.....then you rock.  UP happens to be right by the way.   :)

I've been staying off Monster collectibles lately, mostly due to funds but I found this odd book at a yard sales today for $.10 and couldn't pass it up. I can't find any information about it online though. Author is Edward Radlauer, copyright 1980. It was a grade school book but looks like was only checked out twice (yes, the library card is STILL in it). It's got all the monsters: Frankie, Mummy, Wolfie, Creech and Kong but oddly enough all the Dracula pictures are drawn like show below. Has anyone ever seen this before?:

^And I found lots of online catalogue listings for it on the web. Using terms "edward radlauer" "monster mania" in Google, including the inverted commas. He co-wrote lots of educational books for kids and I recall seeing it in school libraries. It was available in regular shops as a paperback and the "library binding" hardcover version sold to libraries.

They had a bunch of monster books at the school library when I was in grade school. I used to check them out all the time. I don't remember much about them but I do remember that in the back of the book they listed books in the series and had a picture of Kong saying "I suggest you read about my friends".

Lots of publishers were cashing in on a monster boom. Pocket Books had Daniel Cohen's "The Monsters of Star Trek", also in the early 80s, but it was as much about the human characters and humanoid aliens as it was about the horta, Gorn and salt vampire.

I went to a flea market last Sunday and got these.
