Very cool!

Where's this? Is there more than just the one track?

???

Just the 1 track.  Not a huge place.  But they have everything there for you to build your own car and race them.  They do a lot of race parties, but there is "open track" time as well.  I haven't been there in a while.  The place is on Rte 33 in Freehold NJ.  It might come up as Farmingdale on a search.  It's at most 15 minutes from me.  I'm itching to go back.

And the fifteen minute walk would do you good. Or is that fifteen minutes by bike?

???

I think that might have been the track at the sadly now closed JD Model Raceway in Glen Burnie, Maryland.

Evidently the track is now located at Sling Shot Speedway in Lawrenceville, Georgia just outside of Atlanta. Yay!

Come to think of it Hep, it's probably more an 8-10 minute drive. ::)

Maybe, but monster kids are supposed to get places by riding their bikes!

Evidently that's a 409 foot six-lane Ninco sectional track on which only 1/32 scale plastic chassis slot cars such as the ones made by Scalextric are allowed. Very cool, but still not nearly as cool as the eight-lane wood slot car tracks that could accommodate cars with a metal chassis up to 1/24 scale such as this Mr. Raceways Indy 300 track:

Or this American Model Raceways Sovereign 220:

Oh yeah! The Lola Knighthawk was a fabulous race car.

(I am so jealous that this is guy-territory.  We have a go-kart track in town, and I take my shop's employees - all women - out there and we race for a few hours every year.  Our "employee meeting".  Great fun.  But slot cars look like fun, too.  I wonder what constructing the wooden sets would be like?  What the underside looks like?  Some kind of electric rail, yes?)
