Which are the "real" Universal monster figures? The Aurora model kits?

???

The AHI figures.
Morning, noon, or night, Anytime . . . . the count may strike. If you're caught you have to linger, Cause Dracula may bite your finger!

The knockoffs had a lower production run, and fewer have survived, and plus there is enough collectors who want them, so that drives up a price.  My 1959 hearse is far rarer then a 59 Convertable, but the 59 Convertable is going to get a much higher price from a car collector.  Fortunately, I am much happier with my hearse, then I would be with a convertable.  Now if I could just convince everybody how stupid it would be to own a "Haunted Hulk" if one showed up on Ebay.

AHI creature in the package at one time brought over $6000.  Boxed dracula demands good money also. A jointed wrist mummy or wolfman mint in package would surprise you too. Or a set of "baby hand" AHI's ... Its all about condition, rarity, demand, and like Ray said, provenance.      And i cant stress enough, condition, condition, condition. Mint is king in the world of collecting. And that set was mint, with package.

So I take it the AHI figures were properly licensed by Universal and Lincoln just produced knock-offs of the AHI figures? (All these action figures came out well after my time and I never paid them any attention.)

Collecting! It's what I do!

AHI Uni-Monsters were the quintessential Horror toys
of the 70s. The AHI Uni-Monsters looked  the most realistic, unlike
Lincoln's Uni-Monsters.....and of course, the deliberate MEGO
Mad Monsters. With their cartoon distorted faces.

They all have their inherent charms, I really dig the Lincoln Phantom and Hunchback!

I think a frizzy headed Victim went for over $2k by itself once.  (frizzy due to being victimized, not because it was made that way).  Following that logic, a mint victim would be a $3000 toy.  That makes the other 4 and mailer box worth $2100, a bargain!

Was this the one?

Gotta admit, if I had the victim I'd sell it too!

A real collector wouldn't sell the victim.  She was a part of the history of this set, and this may be the only complete set in existence.

Wouldn't break up set, but if I had a victim I'd sell it it, thanks though...

To be honest, I wouldn't want the victim doll either, apart from the fact it's part of a complete set, and keeping that together.

Its cool because of the idea behind it. To put a "victim" in a set of evil monsters for a child to play with is pure genius! Thats the beauty of this set! . Yeah , its a cheap doll. But they ALL are! These are cheap RACK toys guys. They are awesome because they were made cheap soley to be played with and destroyed. And most were. Not as a collector piece like todays sculpted statue "toys"..... kids saw these and actually took them out of the boxes and played with them, unlike the majority of todays monster toys. If i was 10 and got this set that victim woulda been in pieces and covered in a whole tube of fake blood by the end of the day! Then pieced back together to go through it again.  How many do you think made it out. I would love to have a victim doll to go with my monster set, id never pay more than a couple hundred for her though. BUT man Talk about a great toy, This set is it.

If the victim were made by Lincoln and sold on a Lincoln card that had the word "VICTIM" scrawled across it in scary letters, with a scary painted scene behind her, I'd already own one, and would have paid whatever was necessary to get it. But this doll was not made by Lincoln. It was repurposed by the catalog company and inserted into a shipping box with four Lincoln monsters. For what it is, it's cool as heck. And it would be great to have one. But I wouldn't spend a bunch of money on it. I'm watching the Plaidstallions auction, but the price has already just about exceeded my level of interest.

I am slightly more interested in Mr. Rock. He's not a monster, but at least he was made by Lincoln and sold on a similar card. One of these days, I'm going to have a Mr. Rock. The only reason I haven't already gone hard after one is because he's not a monster. But I will get one, one of these days. There is one out there with my name on it.
