Insane. I just spent a month liquidating a friend of mine's 20+ years of horror collecting. Everything he had barely reached the price these things went for. His basement was stuffed full of stuff.

I think people just take leave of their senses sometimes.

Or they are remarkably wealthy---so paying this much money for a bunch of baby dolls is kind of like Tony Stark buying and storing a Picasso.

The most I have ever paid for anything was $900. :o  I had to pay for it over 3 months and work overtime to afford it. It was a Lon Chaney Sr. signature.

Each thing speaks to each collector differently I suppose. But, being born in 1970, and these being unlicensed knock offs of Universals, makes their value lost on me. If they were given to me I would probably trade them for something else. I do hope that whomever got them appreciates them, and is ok with paying that much. ???

This is what happens when more than 1 bidder "HAS" to have something. Congrats to the winner, and more-so the seller!

No kidding from the listing it sounds like they really didn't even know what they had. Awesome find for them probably jumping up and down and laughing with glee when the time ran out on the auction for a bunch of monster dolls they found in a box.

Toy Ranch

I dunno, it seemed like a $4500 to $6000 piece.

This is the catalog page.

Here are some boxed ones.  Also extremely rare (and not mine, posted with permission of the owner).  Some are the only ones known to exist, and seeing them together is a treat.  These will each run you at least what that whole set sold for.

It was well worth what it brought. My snipe was $3000 didnt even go through,  If i had an extra $6000 id have paid it. As far as i know its the only one complete with box in existance and verified that the set made it to producion and past a catalog picture.
Mirabile dictu,don't you agree?

I was wondering about that myself. From his description it didn't appear as if he had even the slightest clue as to what it was he was offering for sale. He didn't even mention the word "Lincoln" let alone "victim".

You had a deal cast in stone. Not just morally but legally the seller had no right to back out of the deal. You made him a bid, he accepted it. Case closed. You could have won a suit in a court of law.

Actually, the word Lincoln does appear in the body of the listing. Anyone doing a search of *both* title and description for "Lincoln Monster" would've found it.

Do you think if it was listed properly with lincoln and mego in the title, that it would have went for higher?

Things go for more or less for many reasons, not the least of which is the title, but this was a pretty high profile listing among figure collectors and got a lot of attention in multiple forums. It might have gone higher or for less if listed a different week, with other collectors trying to win it. Someone who really wanted it may have recently made another large purchase or had a recent expense of another nature that took them out of the bidding. There is no real rhyme or reason to it.  I would have been very surprised if it went for less than $3500, and not that surprised if it went for around $8000.  You gotta realize, most monster toys really do not go for that much, compared to other stuff.

Does any one know how the victim was packed?  Were these monsters sold individually, or as a set?  If so, was the victim only part of the set?
