Splitty - Large bodies of water are my least favorite places to explore, as well.  I hadn't really thought abouts reeds or eels, but just the water itself- eeek!
And people are often scary, but as I get older I am less scared  :)  I love huge crowds where there are so many people that I know none of them have time to look at me- whoohoo!
And remember, most of us here at the UMA are not the least bit scary- to each other!
hee hee.  I grew up near a deeep pond/lake that used to be a logging pond, overgrown.  The murky wavy depths fascinated me. And terrified me since I couldn't swim.  There were crawdads and poisonous lizards and turtles and snakes and weird things in there.  Oddly those things weren't scary. Just the possibility of rotting ghost zombie corpses. ;D
UMA folks are much less scary.

Have you seen the 2010 horror flick, THE REEDS?  You should check it out  ;D.

Alligators & sharks fascinate me, but are creepingly disturbing.  Had close encounters with a gator in The Everglades and a shark in Ft. Myers, FL.  Well - close enough, anyway!
I have not. It's on my Netflix NOW. Thanks! Looking forward to it.
Have you seen the Australian horror flick 'Black Water'? Best Alligator movie ever (besides the 70's movie Alligator). If you haven't seen it, I suspect you'll enjoy it alot.  That damn evil alligator!!

Splitty, leeches are actually therapeutic.  Their natural anti-coagulant helps with blood circulation.   At least with what blood they don't take for themselves.
Man, maybe that's my problem lately.  I need a good handful of leeches...

vintagehalloweentoys - that IS creepy!  My incident was late fall of '76.  It's amazing how far out you can actually go and still touch bottom, isn't it?  This was at a fairly secluded beach - just my girlfriend & I, and a few people quite a ways off.  I was way out there (up to almost my neck) and I turned around to see the tiny little speck that was my girlfriend sitting on the blanket.  For some reason, I grew very nervous and started walking slowly back.  It was late afternoon.  I estimate I tread through the water for about 25 yards, when I turned back around and looked out over the Gulf.  Now, I'm sure it's hard to tell just where I had been, but where I thought it was, I saw a good-size dorsal fin break the surface.  I had seen plenty of dolphins at other beaches, so I waited to see it go in & out like they do.  It didn't.  I backed up watching it the whole time, and it eventually went back under quite a ways off.  I was fairly close to the shore by then and made it back with all limbs attached.  I can't prove it was a shark, but it sure felt like it!

Had to think hard about this. Can't think of anything that scares me. I have no phobias that I have identified. If pushed I'd say a long lingering death wouldn't be welcome but if it actually scares me or not - I'm not sure.

Death does not scare me. Perhaps if I was a religious person it would,as the things I read in the bible makes it seem intolerable no matter which direction you go.

Paladin

I guess being alone and failing at anything scares me the most.

1) Losing my collection to fire, or natural disaster.
2) The insurance company not honoring my claim.
3) going postal on the owner of the company.
4) Having to rebuild my life, then
5) Rebuilding my collection - minus the original one-off props and other items that can never be replaced.

So vacuums scare you too?

All cleaning devices and supplies scare me but it's a secret, don't tell anyone.
