Guillermo Del Toro lists some potential post-"Hobbit" films he'd like to direct including Frankenstein, Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde, Slaughterhouse-Five, and Hellboy III...

Possibilities arise... if Universal sanction a remake, would the makup be of the Price/Karloff configuration?

"Frankenstein represents a longtime fascination for del Toro, who has made his home a memorabilia shrine to the Karloff monster from the 1931 U film."

"To me, Frankenstein represents the essential human question: 'Why did my creator throw me here, unprotected, unguided, unaided and lost?' " del Toro said. "With that one, they will have to pry it from my cold dead hands to prevent me from directing it."

Only one really of interest to me at all is Frankenstein.. I'd like to see a cross between the original uinversal style, and maybe the marvel comics style frankenstein.. but I want to see a return of old flat top!

Isn't Del Toro going to spend FOUR YEARS doing the Hobbit?  Yikes!  Then he'll probably want to get Hellboy III out the door before turning his attention to anything else.  And THEN it will take another couple years to complete Frankenstein!  So, best case scenario, we're looking at eight years or more before Del Toro's Frankenstein hits theaters.  The Wolf Man is going to be a little lonely while he waits for Hollywood to catch up.  Not very conducive to generating a "wave."

  Well at least it's a start, altho I do have to agree.  If the Monsters are spaced too far apart, not much hope for a "New Era" to begin.  Maybe the WOLF MAN will spark a lot of film companies into monster projects.  As FRANKENSTEIN is my personnal favorite monster, I do want to see Del Toro's project become a reality.  I personnally hope he goes with the Boris Karloff look.

Definitely psyched for this! I also hope they go with the classic look. That was one of the main things that disappointed me about Van Helsing; I had read an article  about it as production was starting, and they claimed to be  going with the classic monster and wolfman, which we all know didnt happen.

I hope Del Toro knocks this one out of the ballpark!

I read somewhere that if Universal liked Hellboy 2, then there would be a possibility that Hellboy 3 would see the kid with the big right hand take on the Universal monsters. Now that's a punch up that I wouldn't mind seeing.

Odds are the rabid "canon" fans would hate it, but I'd sure as hell love it!

Universal did like Hellboy II and Del Toro likes Frankenstein.  I'll bet we will see a tribute or homage to the Unviersal monsters in Hellboy III.  Perhaps as a teaser?

Though I'm not really a big fan of remaking classic horror movies (I just don't see the point -- it seems presumptuous to the point of arrogance), I've gotta admit that I like the idea of seeing Hellboy fighting against/alongside Frankenstein's monster, Dracula and the Wolf Man.  Maybe throw in Kong, Creature and the mummy too.  How great would that be?  It could be everything I'd hoped Van Helsing would have been.

Now, for Frankenstein's monster himself, I think the perfect actor for the part is Christopher Lloyd.  He's up there in age, but don't you think he looks enough like Karloff to be his son?

I'm excited about Del Toro taking on the Universal Monsters.  He always brings style, and thought to what he does.

...and most importantly, he also brings respect.

Del Toro's Frankenstein could be a journey into madness unlike any other.  It could also be an ode to all that was good of what once was (and still is in mind and heart).
