No real story here, this is my costume from last Halloween.  It sat out in the yard for a week and a half prior to get the local children accustomed to it before I donned it and took it's place.

We had a guy on our road pull something similar one Halloween, dressed as Michael Myers. My brother and I both thought it was a dummy sitting out in his yard, until he got up and started walking around. The scariest part was, when we passed that house on the way back, he was gone.

Mine's obviously Herman Munster but that's me giving him the return "hmphhh" look.  We're agreeing about something, though I can't remember what.  I loved the Munsters when I was a kid because it was the closest thing to horror movies I could get to without being sent to bed!
I did the pic in photoshop.

Gary: How insidious----I like that in a person.

And just how many of the kiddies wet themselves when you moved?

   "Meek"

For the wee kiddies I just stood there and let get their goodies obviously, but the older ones were fun.  A few were pessimistic to doubt me from the get go and the trick there is I didn't give them the satisfaction of knowing they were right, but let them leave thinking I was in fact a mannequin.  I was standing off from the house in my "other yard" so as not to look like the set up mannequin with the candy bowl, but was lit up with red lights from below so that I was sure to be noticed when they passed by.  Then could sneak up behind them as they were getting their loot and when they turned around I was standing over them.  That worked great.  The best was a couple teenage girls and it was late, and most had called it a night.  The streets in my area were otherwise empty and quiet and I was about to call it a night myself when I saw them coming down the street (my "other yard" is at the end of a T intersection so I had a great view).  They were done and not coming to the house, but stood on the sidewalk waiting for someone, either their ride or a friend I don't know, they didn't say much (which worked to my benefit, leaving the intersection in silence).  The odd tap on the fence post with my old rusty sickle I has holding and the odd whisper set them on edge and created an odd mood.  They finally decided to pay attention to me and come closer and when I jumped at them they went off like roman candles.  Most would scream, jump and have a good laugh these two just ran off shrieking and not looking back.

The saddest part is it worked out so well I won't be able to do it again this year.

That's the problem is this is done enough that I had to find a way to disarm everyone in to honestly buying I was a mannequin.  That's why I decided to set up in another yard altogether and put the costume out early.

I try to rotate mine over time - and sometimes the Board here "disappears" it?

Mine is the illustration I did for the Polar Lights Wolf Man kit - it was my first assignment for them and holds a special place in my heart.
Plus I just like the Wolf Man!

WOW!  You DID that illustration?  That was spectacular work.  I own that model, built that model, painted that model, added custom elements to that model...and I display that model with the BOX right behind it.  It's really great artwork!

Impressive!

Oh...and of course, my avatar is Me.  Taken in the heyday of my local horror hosted show...in the throes of monster movie madness.

That film that I'm mangling...is an actual film print of Faces of Death.

Rest in Peace,

I like to draw monsters, especially hairy brutes like Kong, sasquatch, werewolves, etc.  This is one of them.

Thanks for the great response folks....a lot of fun to read.  Just changed my avatar to go with my screen name.  Here is Bogart in The Return of Dr. X.  Considering the forum's theme, it was about the only Bogey film that lined up neatly.  On the classical music forum that I haunt, I change my Bogart pics often, but for here, this just may be permanent.  I read that Karloff was wanted for this film, but not available.  I am a big Bogart fan, but they probably should have waited.  ;)  Total miscast IMO.  :)

Update: Just cannot stick with X.  I guess I will go with this scene from Dark Passage....a Bogey movie I truly enjoy.  Not a horror film, but the bandages on the mug make it work.  :D  Plus, Lauren always makes a nice addition to any avatar IMO.  ;D

My Fellow AVATARS, ;D
... Mine, is me... no make-up, no special effects, taken, long, before the advent, of photography.
... My Wizard friend, CARLYLE, devised a way, back, in the 14th century, to capture images, on horse-dung, in much, the same way, that, politicians smears their rivals, prior, to election!
... Like our Beloved Brother, PROFESSOR ANTON GRIFFIN, I too, am a TV HORROR HOST, of 30 years... but, like my "avatar"... it's, all, been dung, before!
