Monster Bob

On the anniversary of the 35th of Elvis Presley's death, I must announce, I sell monsters to Elvis.

Well, I sell Monster Toys to a guy that is the King's clone, Rick "Elvis" Saucedo. I have been a fan of Mr. Saucedo's since the first time I saw him, which was 35 years ago, in 1977. Since then, I've seen hundreds of "Elvii", but none come close to this guy.

Funny thing, as fate would have it, he has become a customer of mine, as he is a big time collector, of amongst other things-vintage monster toys!

Here we are at the Chicago Toy Show a couple of years back. Rick bought a "MIB" 1960s Mystic Skull Game that day. I was VERY sick here, having almost died five days earlier. Toy Shows are important!

MB- That is mega cool! Does Elvis collect a particular Universal Monster, or just a little of everything? I don't know very much about Elvis, but I need to get in the game. I'm not a spring chicken any more.  :)   I just watched Jailhouse Rock for the first time the other night, and something struck a chord in my head!  He really does have one of the most beautiful voices in music! Where have I been??
Does Mr. Saucedo perform all over the country? I would love to go to a show!
Oh and lastly.....Im sorry to hear that you were so ill! Man, you look better than most people I know in your picture  :)

Rick is indeed AWESOME!! And frankly, so is Monster Bob.  Nice to know we all have common interests!!
We're all here because we're not all there.

He collects all kinds of vintage and Elv-ish stuff- guitars and jumpsuits among them. He is also into vintage toys and seems to really lean on the 60s vintage Monster/scary stuff, and especially games like Green Ghost, etc. I know he has alot of Aurora kits, too.

Rick mainly plays in the Midwest and Chicago area these days, and does several shows a week in various places, big and small. We like the small venues. While he does all Elvis eras well, his movie stuff is second to none. Certain songs he does, like "Girl Happy" for instance, are so close that, with your eyes closed, you would swear Presley was live in room, circa mid-1960s. He was one of the "original" ETAs (starting in 1972-Presley was still alive), and did a show on Broadway with the original Jordanaires back in the early 1980s. He does, IMO, set the bar for Elvis impersonators, and was the inspiration for dozens that have gotten into the business.

Here is a "vintage" Saucedo clip, circa 1980s....

Wow!  He's got the moves, and the voice! That was fun to watch- Thanks!  I'm glad he's also a toy lover. Toys bring so much joy to us grown ups, and I can see that Elvis collects the good stuff   :)

Hey M.B. - Rick stops in my booth every Toy show too and has bought many a monster item from me over the years.  He actually played in my brother's band back in mid-90s a few times but not as Elvis - as John Lennon in British Import (Beatles band).  My brother is Ringo.  Seriously, he IS Ringo.   One of the best drummers/Ringo impersonators out there.  They now tour as British Export and have played at Comiskey Park and the new U.S. Cellular field.  Sorry to digress.  Rick is indeed the ultimate Elvis tribute performer and a great guy.
