I've never been myself, but have always wanted to see what Salem, Mass is like during Halloween. That's where I would go if given a choice.

Dr. Blasko

With all the theme parks, I would imagine CA or FL, but PA would probably be a good choice too.

You could actually do that, and then if you were so inclined, swing over to Sleepy Hollow.  They're about 215 miles apart.

That's a great one as well. I watched an episode of City Confidential and it was set in Salem, Mass, and it showed how they celebrate Halloween and they showed all sorts of awesome stuff they did, and it was great

State of drunkenness.

Where I am currently staying in Wisconsin for the moment, that about sums it up.  ;D

I gotta say lately NJ has been doing a pretty good job. Local is mediocre at best but when you get out west to Sussex Co and where all the farms are--it's pretty damn cool. Just seeing a billboard every 1/4 mile of a giant Jack O Lantern over corn stalks is Autmn bliss.

There is a place called Washington Tractor out in the sticks in NJ that the company I work for sells batteries to for tractors. They have a sticker of that one of their customers made that I have been dying to get for the back of my Jeep window...orange rectangle that just say's "Pumpkin Hunter" and has an awesome Jack O Lantern on it....been trying to get a sticker out of these people for a year!

one thing Wisconsin has to offer that So.Cal doesnt and can't ,
is the " real" pumpkin farms, and/or driving through the country , and seeing all the
gorgeous trees with different color leaves falling. .
driving through cornfields , with just a sea of cornstalks... like so far out , you cant see where they end.
that whole " Fall" ambiance. .
when sundown comes, you can see HUGE bonfires that people have going
just like on their land,  & its just so picturesque and beautiful.
Even the smell is unique and just screams " Halloween is coming !!! "

I do miss that . Its something that you cant duplicate in a place like l.a.

When I was there in Fall 2010, I literally took my girls to the various farms ( theres a gazillion there ),
and we would buy pumpkins like every day . Im not joking when I say I carved about 50+ pumpkins within a month.
Every night , I'd be making pumpkin bars, or pumpkin bread, pumpkin pie. .
I had pumpkin canned, pumpkin frozen, to use for baking later in the year. .
It was just amazing .

Here in l.a, at halloween,
they use main corners that are empty and ugly, and kinda " set up " a fake " pumpkin farm" , usually accompanied with a petting zoo,
so all the so. cal Yuppies can go pretend that theyre at a pumpkin farm like the one I described ' above'. . ?  lol
Having grown up here, that always seemed normal, until I experienced the REAL thing. . . like..
[where a man driving a tractor, has to drive you out to the field where theres 13million pumpkins still attached to the ground, growing. ( boggled my mind the 1st time I saw that )
and you walk around for awhile, in dirt and possibly pumpkin guts where a pumpkin was rotting, or maybe an animal got at it ?
anyways, you spend an hour or more, just walking around out there, looking for the perfect one, and then the man has to come cut it off the stem.
its a whole day long affair. ]

I actually hate the so called pumpkin farms here now.
I depsise them.
Its a waste of time and they overcharge big time. .
I guess they have to cover the outrageous rent on the empty lot where they set up their " circus" .
which is really what it is . couldnt be more fake if they tried.  theres just NO comparing that to the sort of experiences youd have in Wisconsin
(or any midwest states Im guessing.)

so. now that I wrote a whole book. [or essay rather ].
on "Why the midwest is awesome in the Fall". .  ::)

Your right about the leaves changing and the pumpkin farms being awesome. I do miss that. They do have them all over the east coast as well though. It sucks that Florida or parts of Cali just don't have those options come fall time.

Don't forget the Corn Mazes! Perhaps I'm biased because I live here, but I can't think of a better state than Wisconsin to be in during the fall.

Keep in mind that both Universal Studios and Disney do their Halloween clebrations all month long.
So, If I could plan a dream Halloween event I would do the following:

1) Universal Studios California.

2) Universal Studios Florida.

3) Sleepy Hollow NY

4) Salem Massachusetts

5) Church of St John The Divine NY  (a Halloween MUST)

6) Village Halloween Parade, NY (a Halloween MUST)

Yeah, hey, I am here in Los Angeles, and fake pumpkin farms are all that can be found in the city.  When I was a little kid, though, in the early 70's, my folks drove us way outside of town and there was a real, for reals pumpkin field!  For a city kid, that was a real trip! We picked a couple of nice ones that morning.
Beautiful moving, shifting colors!

Hey, man... no need to apologize for your English.  You know a 2nd language at that is to be respected.  I have seen some of your costumes that you've posted and they're really cool.  We're lucky to have you as a member.  You are in the right place.

Best of luck with your trip!

yes i love used costumes, giant costumes you know in my country no one cares the halloween and monsters, im a one of the few persons that used costumes since when i was a kid, all parties are boring, by this reason i wanna go to United States and celebrate this Amazing Season, Universal Studios monsters and ninja turtles is my passion so i collect many memorabilia of then i feel in the right place when i see all the collection of those great members
