- The Vampire's Night Orgy

Pretty cool gothic feel, lots of graveyards, crypts and old villages filled with vampires. The title is misleading as well.

Now if they only used subtitles it would upgrade this 70's euro horror.
"For one who has lived but a single lifetime, you are a wise man ...Van Helsing."
"I shall awaken memories of love and crime and death..."

Killdozer. 1974 TV movie. A small crew on an uninhabited island are doing an excavating job. When the big D-9 bulldozer hits a larger meteorite containing some kind of alien energy life force the force is transmitted to the dozer. Shortly after the life force takes over the machine turning it into a 20 ton killer. One by one it picks off members of the crew ,destroys their camp and even taunts them and lays traps and ambushes. Not as good as Maximum Overdrive AKA Trucks but very cool especially for a TV movie. The guys in my 8th grade class loved this one. This does not have an official DVD release but it should. You can still find it on the net. I give it a 6.5.

Alien Zone 1978. Has nothing to do with aliens.
A man who is having an affair with a married woman is dropped off on the wrong street when going back to his hotel. He takes refuge out of the rain when an old man invites him in. He turns out to be a mortician, who tells him the stories of the people who have wound up in his establishment over the course of four stories.IMDB summary.

Not a very good print. Cheesy yet interesting nonetheless.
Features John Erickson as the Man Talmudge. (Played Sam in the old Honey West series.)
Ivor Francis a veteran character actor of the 60s and 70s plays the mortician.
Bernard Fox (Dr. Bombay , Bed knobs and Broomsticks)as a Scotland Yard Sleuth in an amusing tale of wits against a BAD Columbo wanna be.
The first story is kinda cool about a school teacher that hates kids. ??? She comes home from work and all this weird stuff happens in her house showing signs of a intruder. Eventually all these little kids donning Ben Cooper and Collegeville plastic masks emerge from various places in her house. The hitch tho is that they are actually green skinned mutant kids that attack and chew her up.
If not for the not so good print I would watch this again. Can be found in the Nightmare Worlds 50 movie pack. Even with the "watchable" quality of the print I still give this a solid 5 outta 10.

They. 1974 filmed in Wisconsin. The following is a summary from IMDB. I agree 100%. Total off the wall schlocky enjoyable crapfest with a VERY diverse musical score. 5 out of 10 for schlock films but the ending was like WTF was that. ???
Bill Rebanes "alien" movie that continues to blow away it's audiences even after 35 years of it's release. That's what I'd like to say, but in reality it's the complete opposite to most people who get caught up in most of the Hollywood garbage. But that may be a good thing, right?

Jake and his sister Sarah are living in a cabin deep in the woods of Manitoba (Canada? If so, it was actually Wisconsin, Rebanes original stomping grounds), accompanied by three scientists, Stan, Eric and Andy. The reason the trio is even out there is never explained, but at one point one of the characters bellows out "all the work in the lab can never compare to this field work!" I'm sure there "studies" are probably just as ridiculous as everything else waiting for the audience to see. What exactly can you do out in Wisconsin in the snow covered winter season? The group begins to pack up all the "gear", after a lengthy briefing from Jake, instructing his sister that they need to "kick up there heels a bit" in town and get with Eric, to which she pretty much shoots down his suggestions.

The group finally takes off in the plane, cranking out the hilarious theme music that has before been mentioned is a blatant ripoff of Ennio Morricone's "The Good, The Bad and the Ugly", only it's the cool 70's synthetic version with a few minor alterations.

About 30 seconds into the flight, they are forced to land due to low fuel and begin hearing voices on the radio from Jakes buddy Sam, a skinny white guy in a brown leather coat with 70's porno hair, claiming that everyone is dead from the horrible disease. The group ignores the warning and lands at another lodge where they witness a plane crash and a mysterious red light on the wall, which raises there curiosity and suspicion that something is going down. Then, the action REALLY begins.

So, they return to the cabin and for 85 minutes talk and debate over what is really happening, which they conclude is martians emerging from the earth's core to wipe out the human race. The character Stan seems to be the only one who has any real knowledge of this global crisis and then spouts out countless speeches and ludicrous theories of why the invasion is happening. At one point he even tries to tie the invasion to the biblical period of the Seventh Seal, which is downright hilarious.

The group must then decide on whether or not they should try to reach civilization or stick around and starve to death. Which brings us to an unbelievable ending that completely comes out of left field.

The storyline in the movie is a great idea, it's just too bad that Rebane didn't have the funds to polish it up a little bit. The good thing about it is that it keeps you watching in the hopes of seeing the actual aliens ripping it up. It was kind of disappointing, but that was the great thing about it. Rebane leaves it to your imagination. I'm not complaining, because to be completely honest and fair, I actually kind of like it the way it is. It has that good ol' fashion 70's feeling to it and the kind of charm that gives it the right to be in the "classic" category to those who have seen it. Whether you find it good or bad, you will never forget it, and that's a good thing.

I love The Mummy's Hand. I think it may be my all-time favorite Universal monster movie. I think I first saw it with my brother as a kid when I was about 6. It is still scary.

Just curious to your recent viewings.  For me:

The Mummy's Hand (1940)

Easy enough to rip apart for some, but I loved it, as I do all the old Universal films.

Wicked Lester

The Manster. I didn't think I was going to like this one. Not really a fan of the Japanese stuff. However I thought this was a fairly cool film. The transformation of Larry into a a life of debauchery and then into a maniacal killer was interesting. The one big thing about this film that was way off was the cops running up the hills after him with a volcano going off nearby. I'll give it a 5.5.
