Wicked Lester

Panic/AKA Bakterion , 1976. Another looow budget Italian film. A British research scientist is involved in a nasty lab accident then disappears. He turns up as a contaminated mutant and goes around killing people at random and drinking their blood. Bad acting, bad script , bad plodding movie overall. Don't even bother with this one.

The last few genre films I watched were

PERVERSION STORY

At my house, tonight's movie was The Deadly Mantis... on television, hosted by Chicago's horror host Svengoolie.  The movie was packed with Svensurround (funny soundbite clips).  This was a summer repeat, but I was more than happy to sit and watch it again; aside from just liking the movie (what is not to love about big bug movies?), I think this version that Sven put together is absolutely one of his best shows.

(Monster Bob was going to watch tonight too, so... we will see if he weighs in with his opinion on the Svensurround.)

Raiders of the Lost Ark
Night of the Living Dead
Young Frankenstein
Hercules in the Haunted World
Baron Blood

...a fun weekend!
Beautiful moving, shifting colors!

My wife has been out of town the past week, so I planned a mini monster movie festival over the weekend:

- Svengoolie's 30th Anniversary Show  Attack of the Puppet People  (great show, OK 50's Sci Fi movie)
- Dracula (1931)
- The Bride of Frankenstein
- Monster Madhouse Live 3rd Anniversary Show (live via the web, about an hour. Absolute craziness)
- Twins of Evil  (one of my favorite Hammer Vampire movies)
- Vampire Circus  (as we speak)

A great weekend of movies and she'll be home by noontime.

The Lugosi/Karloff one.

But of course...

What a visual feast that movie is.

That show WAS a LOT of fun!  (And, at the very end, I'm one among the many folks who walk through the door to shake Sven's hand...  which was a blast.)

Another wonderful movie that is a feast for the eyes! That title came up in discussion the other day-- a friend and I were talking about David Prowse, his career, and his health concerns of late.

Elizabeth, very cool you shaking Sven's hand.

Vampire Circus is definitely a strange movie, but visually effective and another of my Hammer favorites. David Prowse was evil incarnate in that film. Sad to hear about his health concerns now. I wish him well.

Never seen Vampire Circus or Twins of Evil.  Maybe they'll get a proper R1 DVD release someday.

They would make a great Midnite Movies Double Feature set, much like The Vampire Lovers/Countess Dracula.

Yellow Submarine: Blue Meanies, Sea of Monsters, & oh yeah, The Beatles. One of the most innovative animated films ever.

IMO, Vampire Circus is a very unique Hammer entry, a personal favorite. Twins of Evil isn't too shabby either.
