Hi Jim.
re: WOTW.
That's always been a favorite of mine. Those touches you mentioned really did flesh out the movie (although a bit too much of that and the corn starts flying).  I still have the laser disc with an isolated audio effects track; pretty interesting extra.
Even though I'm generally a purist, if the title ever makes it to hi-def I wouldn't mind the removal of those wires holding up Wah Chang's fabulous ship designs. The better the resolution, the more distracting those are.
I think I'll pop that one in the PS3 and have another go at it. It's been a while...

I always do my best to ignore the wires, but you're right, they are distracting. By the way it was Albert Nozaki who did the War Machines, he even gives his daughter some credit for the design in the Special Features.

Another "moment" that comes to mind, that frying pan full of eggs and bacon at the farm house, one of the best meals ever featured in a science fiction film.

Last night I watched Let the Right One In.

I agree, I have it on dvd and heard they are doing an American remake of it.  And I just watched The Lost World, the 1925 silent movie.
Long live the UMA!

Pink Floyd's THE WALL...  Yeah, I know, not exactly in the same category... but still, a real groove.

I watched  "Dead Silence " this past Saturday for the first time and was pleasantly surprised. Not a lot of CGI and a real good story.
