The Creature Walks Among Us

Confession time: I consider myself a BIG fan of The Creature....the first two movies, anyway. I saw CTWAU one time, and one time only, when i was about ten or eleven years old (about 33 years ago!  :o )....i  thought it was...ok, but it kind of bugged me the way he killed himself at the end.  I didnt think that movie as a whole was a fitting closure to the trilogy, so i guess i sub-conciously decided to just ignore it. Even after buying  The Legacy Collection a few years back, i've watched the first two movies ad nauseum,  but never bothered with the finale.

Until today.

I have to say, it wasnt as bad as i've been telling myself all these decades. I actually really enjoyed the debate between  Dr. Barton & Dr. Morgan, concerning mankind's destiny, and the sub-plot between Barton & Marcia was very good (and completely went over my head as a kid...i thought Barton was just  being a dick, lol)....

All in all, it definitely held my interest, and i'll probably add it to my annual "Creature  Marathon"...

Sidenote: It looked like Marcia and Dr. Morgan hooked up at the end. Agreed?

What a coincidence. I also watched this yesterday for the first time in probably 20 years. Not as good as the first two. The ending bugged me too. It did hold my interest enough that I watched the whole thing even tho the wife was trying to get me to do yard work. :)
Don't think I'd want to watch it again anytime soon but it was better than I thought it would be. One thing that has me stymied is why the creature poured gasoline on himself. It certainly looked intentional to me.

i think he picked up the container to hurl at the scientists, and the gas sort of spilled on him....

Interesting thing; Dr. Morgan theorized that the Creature's gills may eventually grow back. I always figured the Creature DID have some sort of regeneration ability,  as he seemed to survive being shot multiple times in  the first two films....

I watched "The Land That Time Forgot" this morning. I'd forgotten how lame most of the dinosaurs were in this movie ;)

The Fly,the REAL version with the immortal Vincent Price (not the goofy Jeff Goldblum).

This morning I watched "The People That Time Forgot". Not the greatest film in the world, but the cave girl who befriends the heroes made it worth sitting through ;)

Slightly off topic, but the Goldfinger Blu-ray.
Certainly "psychotronic" anyway. I've seen the film many times (including several first-run viewings) and I'd never noticed that Auric G. is wearing golden shoes as he approaches his "pigeon" in the opening scene in Miami. Great stuff.

Last night I watched "The Mist". I already knew about the shock ending, and I'd been putting off watching the DVD until I was in the right mood for it. Still a depressing ending though. Tonight I watched "It's Alive". It had been many years since the last time I'd seen it. It still has some creepy moments, but I was more entertained by the dreadful 70's fashions and home decor ;)

I hated the ham-fisted ending to The Mist film. I much preferred the "Birds-like" ending of the original (and in the ZBS radio play).
Spooky and subtle. The combo of putting the protagonist into such an undeserved situation, and having the army show up was way too cheesy IMHO. The original conclusion had the best of Lovecraft and Hitchcock sewn together into a tapestry of mystery where anything could happen next and the imagination runs wild. Instead, we get one man's tragedy and a lame vindication of the military elements who supposedly caused the initial "problem". It was like an anticlimactic punch line to a long and interesting joke.
