Rabid Dogs (1974)
(One of Bava's later flicks, it stays interesting throughout with a twist at the end. George Eastman, aka Luigi Montefiori, plays a mega scumbag and excels in the doing of it.)

The Corpse Vanishes (1942)
(Fun Monogram programmer with Bela chewing scenery in classic fashion.)

Guardians Of The Galaxy (2014)
(This Sci-Fi/Superhero MCU entry succeeds in advancing the overall plot of The Infinity Saga as well as providing some laugh-your-a$$-off moments.)

Too many plot gaps. Not among the better movies in which Bela Lugosi appeared.

Man Who Could Cheat Death, The, 1959 - Guy trying to live forever by utilizing other people.  (Does that ever work out?)

Anton Diffring, Hazel Court, Christopher Lee and Francis De Wolff.

Talky period piece with surprisingly bad makeup from Hammer.  Hazel Court looks very good in this one.  Some skin on display, but all we see is a very lovely back - no frontage.

The Kino Lorber BLU-Ray looks and sounds good and the commentary was pretty good.  Presented in the proper 1.66:1 format.

Dr. Cyclops, 1940 - Scientist experimenting with deadly radium in the jungle is checked on by concerned colleagues.  They want him to return to civilization.  He doesn't want to go with them.  He has a novel way of resisting.

Albert Dekker and who cares who else?

Kind of a cross between The Invisible Ray and The Puppet People.  Solid special effects.

The Kino Lorber BLU-Ray delivers a beautiful rendition of the old three-strip Technicolor process.  Really very pretty.  And the informative commentary is quite good with lots of details about the other minor actors.

Not a great story, by any means - turns into a chase too soon, for my taste.  But this disc is worth it for the special effects, beautiful print and extra features.

I liked it a lot.

Avengers: Age Of Ultron (2015)
The MCU Infinity Saga marches on in this 2nd Avengers outing by Joss Whedon. If you grew up reading Avengers like I did you probably love this stuff. Tech finally caught up to imagination and we get to see the closest we'll probably ever get to superheroes in the real world. It isn't Marvel Comics canon because some things were changed to bring the characters into present day (and there's a bit of fiddling with race/gender in the MCU), but I tip my hat to the MCU for accurately portraying the spirit of the characters and the work...Captain America looks, acts, talks, and moves, like classic Cap...imagine that!

The Loreley's Grasp (1973)
Good Spanish Horror by Amando de Ossorio. Eurohottie Helga Line plays a reptilian were-monster from Germanic legend that preys on a girls' school that looks more like a party at the Playboy mansion. Loreta Tovar, Silvia Tortosa, hot Helga, and a further bevy of beauties all add to the bounty of female pulchritude on display. '70s Eurohorror is like comfort food for me, and Spanish Horror is my favorite.

6 Hours, 2015 - Young people react to impending nuclear power plant explosion.

Stars no one of any reputation.

After a loud explosion and fire at the nearby power plant, word gets out that it will be exploding with a firebomb equal to Hiroshima in six hours.  (Funny, how sci-fi scientists are always so precisely accurate with their predictions.)  This is the tale of what they do next.

Lots of improbable actions and unexplained inconsistencies.  If the police are bashing heads during all the rioting, where the hell IS everybody?  Why are the streets empty?

I think the people who made this movie just saw Miracle Mile and wanted to do something similar.

Filmed in Santiago, Chile.  In Spanish with English subtitles.   AKA  6 Hours: The End

Glad I finally saw it.  Don't think I will watch it again, soon.

If you've never seen either movie, try Miracle Mile, instead.

You really like your nuclear disaster movies. I'm not sure if we've talked about Chernobyl. That was one amazing mini series. Everyone should catch it.

The first crew just wasn't as smart as that on the Nostradamus, or maybe they just hadn't seen the movie Alien.

Creepozoids (1987)

Have to love a film where you get both Linnea Quigley and porn star Ashlyn Gere in various states of undress..

Yeah.  Talked about it over at the TV on DVD thread.

I like it a lot.

Just watched 'Midsommar', a film with obvious nods to the Wickerman, it took me a while to get round to watching this, but it was well worth it. Some great performances, especially the girl playing the lead. It has some really creepy and shocking moments, and is full of little moments of foreshadowing. It has some great practical gore effects and a cool soundtrack. Definitely one I'll be watching again.
