Amityville Horror. Oh, dear. Oh dear. When I was about thirteen my Mom and I watched that film in a movie theater.Scared the hell out of me. Now, The Amityville Horror makes me laugh. I think the last AIP films. Maybe Gorp or Mad Max(1980)

Yeah that film hasn't aged well. Especially compared with movies like the Exorcist and the Omen. In terms of horror film quality Amityville II is much better imo. But I still have soft spot for the original. I just think the whole Amityville House phenomenon is fascinating. From the murders and investigations to the hoax and subsequent pop culture sensationalism, it's just an interesting case study of Americana. There are still some things I find puzzling about the original murders. I'm not talking about supernatural aspects, just the forensics. Always seemed possible to me that DeFeo had an accomplice.

I saw "Amityville Horror" three months before getting married. I found it scary enough, at the time. After the real horror story of marriage, it really didn't seem frightening at all.

Something Wicked This Way Comes
Trick 'r Treat
Banana Splits The Movie
Halloween III Season of the Witch

The DeFeo son(Murderer), now that is a very intriguing story. The Lutz story, not so much.
