My girlfriend refuses. She tells me to go see it with a dead prostitute shackled  to me. I'm not sure what that means, but I don't think it's positive.

Compromise with her.  Take a live prostitute.

Ah, heck.  I was hoping to like it.  Mostly because I thought the male lead of the original was too soft and the woman who played his wife was so unsympathetic.
Yeah, she did come across as cold in the original. I liked the guy who played Louis though. And I loved Fred Gwynne.

Maybe the guy just had too soft a voice for me.  Never liked that actress any anything.

Who couldn't love Fred Gwynne?  Liked him since Car 54 Where Are You?

Escape Room (2018)-
This could have been a mediocre "Twilight Zone"   episode , If the writing/acting, and direction were better.

Forgive me, Geezer.  I've been meaning to address this one for a long time, anyway...

Hell Fest, 2018 - Hell Fest is a traveling "Horror Nights"-type carnival with a twist.  Six young adults must sign an additional release form before entering the no-man's land inner circle of the attraction - this allows the employees within to actually touch the customers.  But, if you don't go through the inner circle, you can't reach "Hell", the fun house ride that is the heart of Hell Fest.

I don't remember any of the actors' names.  Probably wouldn't matter, I never heard of any of them before.

Hell Fest is a slasher film with not all that much blood and no nudity.  The characters are of the sort that keep the viewer hoping one or another gets it first - instead of pulling for their survival.  The scares, what there are, are mostly of the big jump/blaring music sort.

I'm always left wondering why no one ever notices the blood puddles, who cleans up so thoroughly that no one gets curious and how the killer always manages to select victims that will never be missed.

One thing did bug me: the girls in the beginning of the movie spoke in modern slang with deliveries that made it hard for me understand the dialog.  I actually watched first 2 or 3 segments with the sub-titles on.  After that, the language got a lot more straightforward and direct.  I would like to have seen a long, overlooking establishing shot of the attraction, but I guess the budget didn't allow for that.  Did have an interesting little tag at the end.

For me, just OK time waster that will probably never be high on my re-watch list.

Yeah no worries. We rented it for like $1.99 on Netflix, so for that price I wasn't mad. But overall I agree it's rather underwhelming and tame for slasher flick. Mord mentioned "Blood Fest." I don't love that film either, but if I had to pick I would go with BF over Hell Fest.  At least there was more action and gore in that film.

Avengers: Infinity War
Avengers: Endgame

What do you think of "Endgame?" My brother and nephews saw it and think it's awesome. I'll probably go this weekend.

Albino Farm (2009) -
A quartet of clueless millenials drive across the country looking for kicks. They hear of an "Albino Farm" and have to seek it out (who wouldnt?). They run into some scary freaks along the way (horrible make-up fx). I wouldn't want to lose any friends by recommending  this (though, I chuckled a few times).

10/31, 2017 - "Malvolia, Queen of Screams" hosts a five-pronged anthology of Halloween-themed stories.

  1.  The Old Hag - Haunted bed & breakfast inn
  2.  Trespassers - First daters visit a reputedly haunted farmstead
  3.  Killing the Dance - Deadly roller rink party
  4.  The Halloween Blizzard of '91 - Santa resents Halloween's growing influence
  5.  The Samhain Slasher - Escaped murderous madman

Five different writers, five different directors, different casts and uneven results.

Young talents' early efforts.  Not quite there yet, but, judging by this. I think they should keep trying.  For me, the worst feature was the "Horror Hostess".  I think this was a direct-to-video release.

Ok, if you like delving into the first efforts of not-quite-formed young artists.  If you demand your movies be the polished product of more seasoned hands, not so much.
