How was it? I was contemplating giving it a go.

In my opinion. Boring. However, I would say: check it out.

The Devil and Daniel Webster, 1941 - Poor farmer sells his soul to the devil for earthly riches, then tries to welsh on the deal.

Walter Houston, Edward Arnold, Jane Darwell, Simone Simon, Gene Lockhart and John Qualen.

A much expanded Faustian short story by Stephen Vincent Benet.  Made watchable by some lovely cinematography and a captivating portrayal of Mr. Scratch by Walter Houston.

The very pretty Criterion Collection restoration, done from 35mm elements, returns the film to its original 106 min. length - up from an 84 min. edit that was issued in the 1950's.  It also offers an interesting Commentary that explains the multiple title problems and tells of the very interesting way an on-set pig was persuaded to remain silent during filming.

Very much a product of its time.  Houston's Scratch looks like a delightful cross between Burgess Meredith and Ray Walston - who also played the devil in later years.  Fun fantasy, if you like this sort of thing.  I do.

The Poughkeepsi Tapes, 2007 - A long-sought serial killer finally trips up and is caught.  Searching the suspects house, the police discover hundreds of "home movies".

Cast of unknowns.

Faux documentary utilizing "found footage" and told from the viewpoint of police profilers.

The so-so acting and unstable videos lend a realism to this movie that is quite disturbing at times.

Interesting.

The Final Girls (2015) -  Real charmer of a horror flick. A teenage girl loses her Scream Queen mother to a horrible car accident. 3 years later, she attends a tribute screening of her mom's "Camp Bloodbath" movies.  The theatre catches fire, and the only escape is through the slashed movie screen. The only problem...they are trapped within the confines of the film and must find a clever way to escape. I recommend this for the entire family (seriously). It's a warm, affectionate look at all the horror cliches we've grown up with. I don't even mind the lack of nudity.

Not sure what I'm going to watch next, but anything will do just to cleanse my head after enduring that dreadful Netflix "Haunting of Hill House". Oh, KOLCHAK: 'The Werewolf' episode is on right now. That will do.

VHS (2012) - I still enjoy this dopey horror collection. I especially like the one with the club girl that grows wings and attacks.
