Ride - An Uber-style driver picks up the fare from hell. This leads to a harrowing night of danger. Not as good as I made it sound.

Sorry brother Mord, you warned me about Purge prequel but I found dvd on sale at the grocery store for like $8. I thought it was mildly entertaining, but def a significant drop-off in quality.

Yeah, too bad. You can't redo an origin story (unless you're Spiderman, or something).

Deadly Mantis, The, 1957 - Big bug causes havoc.  No spoiler there.  I guess the title tells it all.

William Hopper, Alix Talton, Craig Stevens, Phil Harvey and Florenz Ames.

Opens with a whopper of a scientific principle misunderstanding.  Improves somewhat from there on.

Watched the Scream Factory Blu-Ray.  Great picture quality for the original 35mm elements kinda makes the stock footage look even worse by contrast - still plays OK.

One grouse from me is that the Tom Weaver Commentary is partly informative, partly denigrating.  Maybe Shout should ask commenters their personal opinions of films before engaging them.  I know this movie isn't Citizen Kane, but that doesn't need to be pointed out every few minutes.  He even takes shots at the personal appeal of the leading lady.  (I think she is attractive.)

Tom failed to mention that Florenz Ames played Mr. Applegate in the Mickey Mouse Club's first Hardy Boys Serial.  "Gold Doubloons and pieces of eight...  "

Nice to see this movie (which I really like) all cleaned up and in it's proper 1:85 aspect ratio.  And yeah, I learned new info from the Commentary, too.
