Watched The Wicker Man last night for the umpteenth time. Never get bored of it. I actually visited lord Summerisle's castle a fortnight ago (Culzean castle in Scotland). It still looks exactly as it appears in the film, even the gardens have the same plants/trees. None of the quides or staff had seen the film and there is no mention of it anywhere on the grounds.

Incredible film.

The 1973 film or the 2006 film?

The 2006 film never happened!  ;D

I wondered that they never heard of such a recent film - But to have the same plants from 1973 seemed unlikely, too.

I mean't the same type of plants. The garden looked almost exactly as it appeared in the film. Most of the staff hadn't even heard of the film, which surprised me.

Yeah.  I knew that.  Still, to look unchanged after 45 years...

This is how it looks today. It's crazily similar to how it looks when Sergeant Howie is entering the castle.

Brides of Dracula

Just finished watching the Hammer Draculas in order, and had skipped this one. I initially intended to watch "Horror" and " Prince of..." as a double feature. The greatness of those films inspired me to watch the rest. I watched this after "7 Golden Vampires". Actually, this is one of the very best of the series ( even without the count). Love them Hammers!

The Dead Are Alive (1972)  6/10

Fairly good Giallo. The Etruscan demon-god plot element is cool and I find myself wishing this were a Monster flick following that plotline instead of a Giallo. Samantha Eggar looked good but the real eye-candy here is Christina von Blanc who starred in Franco's A Virgin Among The Living Dead.

Caught some of the Big G marathon on Comet. The Heisei Series was fun.

Godzilla Vs. Mechagodzilla II (1993)  6.5/10

Godzilla Vs. Spacegodzilla (1994)  7/10

Godzilla Vs. Destoroyah (1995)  7.5/10

I have these on disc, as most of us do, but it's kinda fun to watch them live.

It's a fave!

Did you watch the 99 min. uncut version or the truncated American cut?

It was the shorter version, but I have the longer cut on DVD.

Great film in any of the versions. There are 3 that I know of- US theatrical cut: 88 min., "final" cut: 94 min., extended cut: 99 min.

And, I heard there was a 102 min. version but I've never seen it.

I got my copy of the 99 min. version from the Anchor Bay VHS, burned to disc.
