Mord

Thriller, A Cruel Picture

I wanted to watch this, after hearing Joe Bob Briggs mention it on the "I Spit on your Grave" DVD commentary.  What an extreme and bizarre flick. It's about a girl that is raped at an early age and is later kidnapped,  hooked on heroin, and turned into a prostitute  by her kidnapper. Warning,  the sex scenes are very hardcore. The insert shots (no pun intended) are full on porn. The only problem is the revenge part. All is done in excruciatingly slow motion. I understand Sam Peckinlah, but this starts putting you in a coma-like state, after awhile.  By the way, the movie is fron 1972, I believe. VERY intense for it's time.

Mord. I am truly surprised you have never witnessed this film-Thriller-aka-They Call Her One eye. About fifteen years ago, I picked-up the VHS from Tower Records, then later DVD. I think Severin Films, released the film as two different options.
"They come from the bowels of hell; a transformed race of walking dead. Zombies, guided by a master plan for complete domination of the Earth."

Oh, no, I've had the movie for years and watched it a few times. It's just been a while since I last watched it. VERY influential, indeed. The lead actress has a little Camille Keaton thing going on. I've always wanted to date a one-eyed heroin addict with a gun. I always got stuck with the conventional 2-eyed variety.

The Wicker Man - Man, I love this film. This has to be one of Sir Lee's finest roles.

The Blair Witch Project, 1999 - Young people with cameras go searching the woods for a legendary witch.  They never return, but their cameras are found and the film is developed.

Masterfully produced and merchandized on half a shoestring.  I remember having arguments with otherwise rational friends about the alleged authenticity of the film.

Much better than I remembered from my theatrical viewing last millennium.

Cannibal Holocaust-1980
Torso-1975
I saw "Torso" in a double bill with the original "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" back in the day. Odd match up, to say the least.

Lunkenstein

NIGHT OF TERROR (1933) - first time seeing this Bela Columbia entry. Fun little spooky mansion mystery.

Shape of Water, The, 2017 - Creature from the unnamed lagoon - with international intrigue thrown in.

Has a Creature like the one from the Black Lagoon, but with the girl being the interested party;  Has a fanciful tale with photography and incidental score kinda like Edward Scissorhands; And it has foreign menace that is reminiscent of the Nazis in Raiders of the Lost Ark.

It took me a long time to get around to watching this.   I bought the film as soon as I could get it on deep enough sale price.  I knew I had to watch it someday.  I just wasn't confident that I would like it.

Turns out, I did.  Because it is presented as a fairy tale, I didn't mind all the unlikely plot twists and character choices.

The movie has a great look.

(Is it just me, or is the entrance to the building where she works the same one used for the Aquqrium in the Star Trek whale story?  Looked like where Kirk and Spock discussed George and Gracie.)
