Memoirs of an Invisible Man, 1992 - An industrial accident causes portions of a large building and some of its contents to become transparent - including the one man who was left inside.

Stars Chevy chase, Darryl Hannah and Sam Neil.  Features interesting photographic and practical effects with just a hint of CGI.  The effects look so much better than straight CGI.

Not awful, but could have been a much better movie.  If only they had decided what kind of film they wanted to make.  It doesn't have enough comedy to keep an audience laughing throughout.  But it also doesn't maintain the deadly threat without getting cute.  I'm filing this one with my monster films.  It's not funny enough to file in my comedy section.

I watched the Italian issued All-Region Blu-Ray.  Good looking print.  (Watch it for the effects.)

Not my favorite Carpenter film, but I like it.  I think people were expecting more laughs than were intended. It's more like a Hitchcock movie with Cary Grant. Some humor along with the thrills.

Exactly what I was thinking while I watched it!

I was imagining the same movie with Cary Grant in the lead - Serious.

Or

Steve Martin in the Lead - Comedy.

Like "Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid", but that isn't what Carpenter was going for.

I was thinking of "The Man With Two Brains".

An American Haunting, 2005 - Spooky doings from a century ago.

Good cast includes Cissy Spacek and Donald Sutherland.  Lovely period piece with great photography, costumes and some of the best sound effects you are likely to encounter.

Supposedly inspired by tales of the Bell Witch.  I didn't see the connection.  Unfortunately, the movie didn't work for me.  They had me right up until the end.  I don't think the explanation works today.

In fairness, in the super religious/superstitious times the actions were taking place, it could have made all the sense in the world.  The drive to deny feelings of guilt can be a powerful force in hiding the truth.

Did you guys like this one?

Otis, 2008 (uncut version) - Serial kidnapper / Revenge story - with a twist.

Stars Bostin Christopher, Keven Pollock, Daniel Stern and Illeana Douglas.

I love this one from beginning to end.  But it really kicks in during the 2nd half.

(Not for the kiddies.)
