Next is Columbia's THE NINTH GUEST (1934) at YouTube

Entertaining mystery from the "And Then There Were None" school. Eight socialites are invited to a party in a penthouse and soon discover they are trapped there. Their host (a disembodied voice from the radio) tells them that they will all die, one every hour. I think you can guess what happens next!  ;D

A few familiar faces. Samuel Hinds (Man-Made Monster), Edwin Maxwell (ever the shady businessman) and Edward Ellis (the "Thin Man" himself). Nicely directed by Roy William Neill (the Rathbone "Holmes" series).

mother! (2017) - I would not recommend this to anyone here, but I loved this bit of pure insanity. Don't ask me to explain it, but any film with a horny Michelle Pfeiffer is worth watching.

Don't ask me to explain it, but any film ending in the cannibalizing of a newborn is my type of entertainment.

TMI !!!  :o

I was being facetious.  ;D
Good, because newborn cannibalism is one of the more normal aspects of this film. A nightmare in the truest sense (I just happen to like nightmare).

A detour from horror, for a couple of Columbia films starring Peter Lorre.

ISLAND OF DOOMED MEN (1940) at YouTube

Lorre fans will enjoy his sadistic penal colony warden. A confused plot about a gov. man trying to bring Peter to justice (I guess 'cause he enslaves the cons and forces then to dig for diamonds . . . I don't know?) Rochelle Hudson is Lorre's trophy wife (and virtual prisoner) and Robert Wilcox the G-Man come to save her. It's Lorre's show, all the way!

Also on hand are Charles Middleton ("Ming the Merciless"), Don Beddoe and George Stone. Directed by Charles Barton (A&C Meet Frankenstein).

This film is available on a Columbia MOD DVD-R.
