An American Werewolf in London (1981)

I just received David Naughton autograph a couple days ago. Super cool Man.

Don't Breathe, 2016 - If I were to pitch this one I would say, "'Home Alone' meets 'Rambo' with a little 'Cujo' thrown in for good measure."

I was taken in by the reviews for this one.  I expected more of a horror story.  Instead, it plays more as a straight home invasion crime thriller.  As such it was OK.  But, movie makers tend to give blind characters way too heightened secondary senses and intuition.  Strains one's credulity.

And, if you've ever strained your credulity, you know how painful that can be.

I really liked "Don't Breathe". I found it to be a straightforward  horror film that got the job done. Most Cineplex horror films seem to revolve around some spirits redecorating a family's new home. This film had some genuinely tense moments and pretty much entertained to the very end. I don't think the blind man strained any credibility (and, yes, that can be painful ). The guy is a well trained vet who has lived in his modest house for a long time (He is painfully familiar with every square inch of his empty home). It also helps that home invasion is my favorite subgenre of the horror field. LA Times called it "Wait Until Dark on steroids. Pretty fitting, I think.

Men In Black: Trilogy - All your government conspiracy/alien life paranoia come true.

First time I'd seen MIB III.  Amazon had the Blu-Ray Trilogy on sale for less than the first movie alone so I took them up on it.

I like humor in my sci-fi.  I appreciate MIB I's Vincent D-Onofrio's performance as an alien in a human skin.  It reminds me so much of Bill Boyett's performance in a similar role in "The Hidden" from 10 years earlier.  Both funny as hell.

A classic performance! Hope he got some award, or other, for it!

KONG: SKULL ISLAND

Not everything I wanted in a KK movie, but I was entertained. Excellent FX, of course, but all you need is money for that (which buys top talent).

Conspicuously lacking in character development, including Kong. I didn't know who any of those people were? They could just have hung signs around their necks saying "Soldier", "Hero", "Mandatory Female Character", etc. I really didn't care who got killed and who didn't!

What was that post credits scene about? Are they floating an idea for a series of movies?

Yes, the film is directly tied to Godzilla (2014) and the giant monsters from the Godzilla franchise.

I see they share the same producers. Any of the same characters in both? They'd have to be 30 yrs older in "Godzilla".
