Joan actually filmed the majority of her role but had to be replaced with Olivia De Havilland late in the production.

Anybody see that mini-series about Davis and Crawford and the making of  "Baby Jane" and "Hush, Hush"? Davis had Crawford kicked of the latter production.

That was just me in the Summer of 1957, when I was 10.  I was not only was the exact age of the kids in "Stand By Me" when their story took place, I was a ringer for Vern - and just as clueless.

In 1957 theaters were showing Universal Sci-Fi for most of the kids' weekend matinees.  A few months after this photo was taken, The Universal Monster Package hit TV, two weeks before my 11th birthday.  Sweet times.

The picture was taken by an orange grove.  My parents took an aunt of mine from Arkansas out to see some of our famous California orange trees.  We were both in the picture before I cropped it.

I remember Orange County before Disneyland was built.  Nothing but oranges as far as the eye could see.  When they were all in bloom at the same time, the sweet smelling blossoms could knock you off your feet!

What a wonderful back story to the picture. Sounds like a wonderful monsterkid youth.

How old is the little tyke?

She's 16 yrs old and loved it. It was a pretty mild slasher as slasher films go.

The Final Terror, 1983 - City kids camping among the redwoods and ferns around Northern California's Crescent City plus a legendary escaped lunatic.  What could possibly go wrong?

The title is overkill.  The movie is not that terrifying.  Could have used some expert editing and the addition of a red herring to help build the tension and delay the reveal.  The locations are gorgeous and the cinematography is top notch.  The very young cast includes Joe Pantoliano, Rachel Ward and Daryl Hannah.

While everyone was sleeping in this morning, I managed to get a viewing of I married a Monster from Outer Space in. I love that movie, the monsters are great, and the allegory to the "Red Scare" was really played to its fullest potential.

Here's the title creature from my collection, thanks to Dr. Lady.
