"The Outer Limits" The Architects of Fear (1963)

Decently enough executed story here with Robert Culp as the Thetan creature.  Once again, this brought back Friday night childhood memories as this series would serve as a prelude to the monster or sci fi movie of the week.

Arrival, 2016 - Bought this Blu-Ray just because I have a compulsion to see every end-of-the-world and first-contact-with-aliens film out there.  From what I saw in the trailers, I did not expect to be very impressed.

I was pleasantly surprised.  The movie is very thoughtful and straight-forward.  The problem of establishing communication with an entirely different lifeform was dealt with intelligently, although the humans did seem to make progress way too fast.

My favorite touches were the facts that it didn't star Tom Cruise or Keanu Reeves, Amy Adams was attractive without being so drop-dead beautiful that she was unbelievable as an academic linguist, Forest Whitaker refrained from giving his character some quirky trait that detracted from the story, and the soundtrack didn't veer suddenly from soft dialog to deafening explosions or teeth-clenching musical cues that made me have to dive for the remote to make the house stop rattling - not even once.

I liked it.

I'll bet a lot of people hated it.  Not nearly enough car chases.

It was! No SF/action/FX extravaganza, here! The FX were very restrained. Here's their ship. Here are the aliens. That's it!

Posted my viewing on another site and someone there pointed out " So intense that some stations blacked out the scenes where the Thetan was shown.'

and 'The Thetan was actually played by the famous monster-man Janos Prohaska. Culp never wore that costume."

House Of The Living Dead (1974)  4/10

South African snoozer seems like made-for-TV fare. Good plot idea not very well executed.

Messiah Of Evil (1973)  7/10

Lovecraft fans should enjoy this one. Marianna Hill and Anitra Ford provide enticing eye-candy. Effective somber mood and cool Horror scenes make this a fun watch.

Lover Of The Devil (1972) (aka Lucifera: Demonlover)  4/10

I love Eurohorror and still this was tough to get through. Very draggy. Rosalba Neri is the best reason to watch it.
ALWAYS MONSTERING...

I remember Prohaska and his son were killed during the making of a movie, but I don't remember any of the details. Maybe in the 1980s?

My post that you quoted in your post was about the movie ARRIVAL.

Mord

Truly great modern horror film. I can't believe more people here aren't talking about this year's best horror movie.

Mord

Pet (2016) -  Lonely animal shelter employee decides to incarcerate a beautiful girl under the shelter. He quickly realizes that not all pets can be tamed. If the filmmakers think that a hot babe running around in her tiny panties throughout the film is enough to win me over.....they're absolutely right!

I remember Prohaska and his son were killed during the making of a movie,

From Wiki:
"He and his son Robert were killed along with 34 others on March 13, 1974 at 8:28 p.m. in the crash of a chartered Sierra Airlines Convair CV-440 aircraft near Bishop, California while filming the ABC/Wolper Productions television series Primal Man."
