It's been a Ralph Bakshi evening.

Dead Of Night (1974) (aka Deathdream)

The Mad Monster (1942)

The Monster Maker (1944)

I recommend Deathdream. Very creepy unconventional zombie yarn directed by Bob Clark, and written by Alan Ormsby with several of the Ormsby gang from Children Shouldn't Play With Dead Things.

And, of course, some Poverty Row goodness as hosted on The Eerie Late Night Horror Channel.

The Shallows (2016)
It Follows (2015)
I saw The Shallows last year at the drive-in paired with Don't Breathe. Great double feature, big fun!

So, how was Green Inferno? Was it a good homage to Cannibal flicks from the '70s/'80s?

I saw Hostel and thought it was somewhat interesting though brutal and soulless. I expect Roth took the same Rob-Zombie-Hammer-Down-And-Eff-The-Art approach on Green Inferno though I'm not sure since I haven't seen it yet.

Cannibal Holocaust is infamously gory and gritty but a beautiful movie experience at the same time. I'm not expecting that level of celluloid art from a Roth film.

Here is my comment and opinion about the GREEN INFERNO. S*****y, f*****g film. As much as I like Eli Roth's (well some, not most) films, his homage( hamoge, as Liam Neeson would say in The Dead Pool-1988) to Cannibal films, was awful. Talk about derivative. Well....that film SCREAMS, unimaginative, cookie-cutter and boring. However the Green Inferno has plenty of gore! I think of the Green Inferno more as homage to H.G.Lewis' blood-soaked, gore films than Ruggaro Deodato, Cannibal Holocaust. Omg! I just remembered! There was a particular actress in the film, that, was super annoying. Holy, wow!

On a side note. Did I mention that the film sucks?!

That's my opinion, and I am sticking-to-it.
