Messiah Of Evil (1973)

I recommend this obscure little gem. It's about a dark Power that turns the populace of a small seaside California town named Point Dune into flesh-eating ghouls. This film isn't heavy handed like most zombie movies, but very subdued and enigmatic like some of the best Eurohorror of the period. It's full of great genre actors like Marianna Hill, Anitra Ford, Royal Dano, Elisha Cook Jr., (and Joy Bang ). This film is arty and open to interpretation. It's also Lovecraftian. It's like Nyarlathotep vacations in this little seaside town every hundred years and raises some hell in Dark God fashion.

I had a cheaper release (and also saw it on The Late Dr. Lady Show), but I was so impressed by it I picked up one of the OOP Code Red DVD releases off evilBay. It has some really nice special features and is probably the best release of the movie we'll ever get.

The Burning was a pretty decent Friday the 13th rip-off. The brunette skinny-dipper was pretty hot. It was nice seeing a young George Costanza with hair.

Burnt Offerings (1976)

Wow! Even though part of the ending was telegraphed it was so well shot it turned out to be spectacular and jolting! Different take on the Haunted House subgenre and fun movie.

Karen Black is awesome in Burnt Offerings. Not to forget, Oliver Reed and his performance.

Great stuff HH. That film scared the crap outta me when I was like 5 years ago-especially the driver guy.
I gotta pick that up.

Ghostbusters (2016); if you enjoyed the two previous films then there is no reason not to get a kick out of this one...well unless you just can't get over this being a reboot.
