Pieces (1982)

Watched the US version on the Grindhouse Releasing Blu-ray last night. Man, this is a fun flick, the quintessential drive-in/grindhouse splatter movie. Filled with nudity, naughtiness, ultra-violence, gore, kung fu, butcher knife fu, chainsaw fu... I can hear Joe Bob running down the Drive-in Totals for us right now.  That BD release from Grindhouse is a thing of beauty for exploitation fans. Big fun.  ;)

Chopping Mall.

The transfer on the DVD was terrible, but it didn't bother me that much.  It added to the crappy 80s movie experience.

Eugenie (1973)

Pretty good Jess Franco film starring Paul Muller and Soledad Miranda (billed here as Susan Korda). Muller plays a writer who is obsessed with erotic literature. He lives with his beautiful stepdaughter who comes to share his obsession. Following writings of the Marquis De Sade, they both begin a murder spree to "obtain absolute pleasure through the pain of others".

Always good to see lots of Soledad in the buffZombie In Luv

I bought the Blue Underground DVD, but before that I saw this film on You Tube. It's probably still on there if anyone wants to check it out.  :)

I love that movie. Whenever my sister suggests watching a movie my brother-in-law always asks if it can be Chopping Mall. Do you have it on that multi-movie pack or is it a stand alone DVD?

I enjoyed it myself!  I had an urge to watch something with killer robots.

I got the DVD from Netflix.  It was the Lions Gate release, which I found out was made from a VHS master.  According to IMDB the original negative is tied up in legal issues, or was.

Video Nasties: Draconian Days (2015)

This feature length documentary covers the shocking story of UK home entertainment following the introduction of the 1984 Video Recordings Act. The self-righteous people in power went on a holy crusade fueled by ignorance and arrogance, and plunged the UK into another Dark Age of the most restrictive censorship. Not only were sellers arrested for selling movies on the BS "Video Nasties" list, but private collectors had their homes invaded by goosestepping "police", their collections seized and burned, and in some cases were fined and/or imprisoned. Since Britain came so close to living under the boot of the real goosesteppers just 4 decades prior, one would think they would have better sense than to let censorship get out of control that way. Holier-Than-Thou Do-Gooders strike again, trying to force people to adopt their twisted code of morality. Thankfully for the Brits that mess ended after just a few years. The documentary is well done, as is the previous documentary in Video Nasties Part 1. It's entertaining, but it will piss you off, and rightfully so.

Horror of Dracula

My second Hammer film (after The Mummy), and my first Christopher Lee Dracula movie!  I really enjoyed it.

I'm so used to Christopher Lee being old, that seeing him running around and being physical was quite entertaining.  Peter Cushing really did play a great Van Helsing.  I liked the guy from the original Dracula for what he was, but I vastly prefer this younger 'roll up his sleeves and kick your vampire ass' version.

I can't wait to watch the others.  And then it's on to Frankenstein!
