From the first time I saw this to its rather lengthy delay in arriving on DVD, it's been a favorite, and continues to be.  I'd been a film-fan most of my conscious life by that point, but I was still a teen a long way from home, and I'd only heard tales of Castle-esque antics inside theaters.  MATINEE was the first time I'd 'seen' some of those in action (having the nurse, on-hand; having a character 'leap' out of the screen into the audience) and I was soooo happy to imagine "This is what American movies were like for babyboomers."

Then, more documentaries about Wm Castle himself arrived, and more articles and interviews appeared with more antics discussed.

It's not only a pretty good little story, pretty well delivered on-screen, but the overlaying tension of the Cuban Missile Crisis is well-exploited, too.   John Goodman probably had a fan in me before this film but definitely, after.

"The Green Inferno" - I really liked this one. Great Peruvian location, realistic practical effects, cannibalism, & Chilean beauty Lonrenza Izzo (Mrs. Eli Roth) make this very enjoyable.

I just now watched on "Comet" cable TV the "Vampire and the Ballerina" with English sub-titles, 1962.  Strange, creepy flick, lots of "babes" though!

Matinee (1993)

I love this movie! I saw it for the first time a few months back (mainly due to just forgetting to look for it while DVD shopping) and had a blast.

Early Toho daikaiju (1958). Not bad. The Media Blasters DVD has some good special features.
