Watched Hammer's "Twins of Evil" in memory of the lovely Madeleine Collinson, who recently passed on. Such a beautiful woman.

Salem's Lot (1979)

I watched the 183 minute TV miniseries last night from the DVD in anticipation of the new Distinctive Dummies 12" Kurt Barlow figure. I hadn't seen this since it originally ran on TV back in '79 as two 2 hour episodes. I remembered it being good, but man...this flick is really good! I started watching it pretty late and was planning on watching half of it, then the other half today. I ended up watching the whole 3 hour show and went to bed after 3 AM. The scene with vamped-up Ralphie Glick floating outside his brother's window is still creepy as hell. Can't wait to get that new DD figure. Reggie Nalder as Barlow was inspired by Nosferatu, but is different enough to be one of the coolest vampires ever. Excellent show.

"30 Days of Night" - Someone mentioned this in an earlier post & got me in the mood to re-visit. It's definitely one on of the better modern vampire flicks (not a sparkle in sight).

Planet of the Apes animated series

Not to be confused with Rise and Dawn of the Planet of the Apes which are Planet of the Apes the animated films.

"Black Sabbath" - US version- Karloff was great even in his later years

Madhouse (1974)

The weakest of the Price AIP flicks (co-produced by Amicus). Hard to believe a film starring Vincent Price, Peter Cushing, and Robert Quarry could end up being so...mediocre. It reminds me of an episode of Scooby Doo with the chase scenes toward the ending. However, the Dr. Death makeup/costume is damn cool.

Now you're talking brother! I think this film still holds up well. Even today I find the three stories totally creepy.

BTW: i was the one that mentioned "30 Days of Night." I think it's one of the better 'monster' movies to come out in last 20 yrs.

Totally agree. You know I still remember watching that scene when I was like 4 yrs old, during the original broadcast. It scared the heck outta me.

I watched the remake a few years back. If I recall it wasn't half-bad, but I can't remember too well.

Good call on "30 Days" pal. I had forgotten how good it was. THAT'S how you make a modern vampire film...NO SPARKLING!!!
