Well...I can definitely see the "inspiration". Not only for "Alien" but also the beginning of "Aliens" (when Ripley was being interrogated for returning without the crew). "Rip off" might be a little harsh, though. Like most great rock 'n' roll, the influences are usually pretty transparent, but if the finished piece shines on it's own, all is forgiven. Let's just say that I'm sure O'Bannon has seen "It..." and we are all the better for it.
