Lords of Salem-Definitely not about the scares, it's all about atmosphere and abstraction.  I think it held itself together way better than some of the WTF? films I've seen in the past.  I didn't get a sense of being lost or not knowing what the heck was going on, so with that said, I enjoyed it.....Though it may not be for everyone!

ChrisW

Watched Karloff's The Mummy while home recuperating from a kidney stone.

Frankenmarx

Somehow the Mummy never even scared me as a child, but he looked GREAT.

Rosemary's Baby (1968)

I just watched this movie. Incredible film. I must have watched Rosemary's Baby over a hundred times, or more? Every time I watch the film, I discover more and more. So much going on in the film.

Polanski definitely had skill. Ruth Gordon was priceless. It's also nice that William Castle was elevated from only being famous for low budget gimmicks by this film. I love his other work, but this is a cut above. Victoria Vetri/Angela Dorian is a tasty bonus.

Polanski's direction was quite good.  But I often wonder how much influence Castle had on the film? Considering the film was Castle's baby( pun intended).  Rosemary's baby is such a creepy, foreboding film. Everytime I watch the film, I feel dirty. Beyond sinister. Many film fan (atics) will disagree with me, and say the Exorcist is the film that truly started the Satanic influence in most films today.  That the Exorcist is the scariest film for its time. But I have too say, Rosematy's Baby is much scarier than the Exorcist.  Rosemary's Baby from start to finish does not let up. Nor is it a cheesy film. Unfortunately, the Exorcist, although an incredible film. The Exorcist does have very cheesy moments. I don't see that with, Rosemary's Baby.
