Lon Chaney: A Thousand Faces (2000)

Was lucky enough to have a friend snag this of of TCM for me a couple years ago.  He threw some graphics on it to make it look like a pro copy.  Interesting documentary.  One older gentlemen interviewed saw London After Midnight at the movies when it came out.  He did not think much of it.  Said The Pantom of the Opera was much better.  I would sure like to be able to make that call for myself.  ;)

From what I heard and read, London after Midnight is one of the most sought after Silent Movies, but  A Blind Bargain, which is also lost, was a much better movie.

Always wanted to see "London After Midnight", and would love to have a copy for my silent horror collection. No known copies ever survived according to the old Famous Monsters. The pictures of Lon Chaney as the vampire always seemed creepy to me, both as a kid and even now. I'd trade my mate for a chance to see it.  ::)

I do have a copy of the Schmidlin reconstruction using over 200 stills....FWIW.  The same friend recorded it off of TCM and packaged it very nicely for me.  Worth the viewing IMO.  :)

Still looking for stuff on the internet that isn't available on DVD. Last night I watched "Monster of Piedras Blancas" on YouTube. It was a tape of some public access show called "Dumpsterpiece Theater" and they kept throwing in these stupid sound effects throughout the whole movie. I guess they thought it was funny, but it was just plain annoying! MST3K it ain't! Watch it if you must, but you've been warned.

Parts 1 and 2. Crank pt. 1 up to about 30
min (half way) to start the feature, then go to pt. 2 for the rest.

Journey to the Center of the Earth (2008) 3-D

Was not expecting much from this film except for a fun ride.....and I would say it delivered that and not much more.  Characters fairly flat, even Brendan Fraser who is usually good for a laugh, but in this case only received a few light weight chuckles from the audience.  It seemed just right for my 10 year-old though, who did enjoy it, but to his discerning credit was not overly wowed either.  Just goes to show that story is always more important than effects, which when it it came to the 3-D lot did not add, and in most cases detracted from the film.

This one I will have to see solo, so difficult to sneak in, but hopefully it happens soon.  Would be a shame to miss it on the big screen.

I loved Iron Man but Batman takes the cake. It's a must see on the big Screen. I recommend it!

Loved IRON MAN, loved BATMAN, hated JOURNEY, and can't wait for THE WOLFMAN.  Just watched "Two Faces of Dr.Jeckyll" with Christopher Lee on TV.  It was alright, but I still prefure the Fredrick March version.
