I'll tell ya Steve, I'm vacillating between doing a media room in a haunted castle motif or a retro 60s-70s room. I thought I was set on the castle until I saw all that 70s decor. Now I'm not sure again  ;D
that would be great Scatter, you should do it

Texas chainsaw massacre part 2. (1986)   I remember going to the theatre to see this and being 13 they wouldn't let me in, not even with my aunt with me. I was devistated, and to make it worse they let my older brother in to see it. Needless to say when it came out on vhs I watched it over and over. Man do you Remember how long it used to take for movies to come out for rental. And you had to wait even longer to be able to buy it. Nothing like today.! Definately not as good as the first TCM, not even in the same ballpark. But a cult classic none the less. Chop top and grampa  definitely made this movie memorable. It will always have a special place in my library.

Did you know, there will a Chop Top Halloween mask coming out this Halloween 2011?  TCM II is an awesome flick.

- Last Man on Earth on Count Gore's show with Penny Dreadful, Mr. Lobo and Ormon Grimsby

Always like watching this Vincent Price late night classic, especially when hosted by some of the best Hosts at Monster Bash.
"For one who has lived but a single lifetime, you are a wise man ...Van Helsing."
"I shall awaken memories of love and crime and death..."

Phantom Stranger

"Chandu The Magician"(1932)
-Edmund Lowe' Bela Lugosi
Plot: IMDB
Megalomaniac and would-be world dominator Roxor has kidnaped Robert Regent, along with his death ray invention, in hopes of using it to degenerate humanity into mindless brutes, leaving himself as Earth's supreme intelligence. Faced with revealing the machine's secrets or allowing his family to die a horrible death at the hands of Roxor, Regent's only hope lies with the intervention of his brother-in-law, the be-turbaned yogi and magician Chandu, who has the power to make men see what is not there 'even unto a gathering of twelve times twelve'.

Phantom's Review:
Wonderfully corny and over the top melodrama. The is a movie serial at it's best. Exotic locals (actually a studio back lot) cool FX (for it;s time) and Bela Lugosi at his sinister best. Lots of fun

- The Descent 2

I loved the first one. It was creepy, tense and scary. This sequel takes all that and loses it. In the first one, you only saw glimpses, flashes of the crawlers, making it that much more creepy. In this one there are extended full shots and after seeing them like this, they lost their creepy factor IMO. Also add in a couple plot twists that were out of place and the ending that came out of nowhere in an unsatisfying way.

Overall, worth a watch, but the first one works as a stand alone.

Phantom Stranger

"Paranormal Activity 2" (2010)

Plot: IMDB
Daniel Rey along with his wife, Kristi; daughter, Ali; toddler son, Hunter, and their dog, move to Carlsbad, California. A few days later their residence is broken into, however, nothing appears to be missing. In order to prevent re-occurrences, they install a number of security cameras that will record everything on a DVR. After they hire a Spanish-speaking nanny to look after Hunter, she informs them that there is something wrong in their house and performs prayers, much to the chagrin of Daniel, who lets her go. He will subsequently regret this decision as more inexplicable and strange incidents occur, with Ali concluding, after a research, that their house may be possessed by a demonic entity.

Phantom's Review: Essentially, this film works as both a prequel AND a sequel to the original film. (those who have seen it understand, those who haven't, well, go see it) While not quite as good as the original, this film still is an effective thriller. The acting seems realistic, and the minimal FX are well done. Perfect to watch at home, late at night with the lights off. I love haunted house stories and this is a good one.

Frank - I chuckled a little when I read this. Being a bit older than you, I can remember my frustration waiting for a movie to get broadcast on TV! No VCRs or DVDs way back when. And of course, the TV stations always hacked the movies up to remove things or just make space for commercials. It's funny how despite the different eras involved, there was still that frustration at having to wait to see a movie again. We really have it good now, when a film may come out on DVD just four months after its theatrical run, AND at a very affordable price.
