- Black Christmas (1974)

A classic of the genre although I still prefer Halloween.

Truth be told, Silent Night, Bloody Night (1973) predates both of these films and could be one of the most underrated horror films. It had the killer's POV shots, disturbing phone calls, great gothic atmosphere and one of the creepiest endings. I think the darkness of the film which made it difficult to see what was happenning and some of the acting has left this film in the dust.
