Vuelven de los Campeones Justicieros (Return of the Champions of Justice) 1972 The second Champions of Justice film. Blue Demon and Mil Mascaras are joined by Rayo de Jalisco, Avispon Escarlata and Fantasma Blanco to combat a female mad scientist and her rat midget henchmen. Yes Midgets in rat costumes. This film had a pretty good sized budget as there are alot of big stunts, including helicopters and the usual fights .

Magic Serpent 1966- really fun Toei fantasy film based on the traditional japanese folktale Jiraiya. Samurais, ninjas, wizards and a climactic duel where the good hero transforms into a fire breathing spiked frog and the villian into a huge asian water spitting dragon. The dragon suit was really huge-it had to have been at least 15 feet long!

Warning From Space 1956 The first color sci-fi film from Japan. This Daiei production beat Toho's Rodan into theaters by a few months.Aliens that appear to be starfish like one eyed creatures arrive on earth from paira, our sister planet on the opposite side of the sun (Daiei would reuse this idea in their 2969 Gamera film Attack of the Monsters) to warn of the incoming rogue Planet R that will collide with earth. Pairan and human scientists must work together to stop the threat. Toho's 1962 film Gorath used a similar plot minus the friendly aliens.

I also listened to the commentary tracks for Monster Zero, Godzilla's Revenge and Terror of Mechagodzilla.

Captain Kronos: Vampire Hunter (1974)

Man, this is such a fun movie! Horst Janson makes a badass Kronos (he really did do all his own stunts). Caroline Munro is good as the comely love interest. John Cater is excellent as Kronos' hunchbacked assistant, Prof. Grost. In this one they stress the variety of Vampires in existence. They touched on this idea in some of the other Hammer vamp flicks such as the Karnstein trilogy, Vampire Circus, and Legend Of The Seven Golden Vampires. Also, there's a Karnstein sighting in this film! This should have spawned several sequels. It really is excellent.

The new Hammer should make sequels based on several of the Hammer classics. They could involve descendants of the original Captain Kronos, Van Helsings, and Frankensteins, and even some of the original immortal villains such as Dracula (Chris Lee and GOOD CGI), The original Baron Frankenstein's brain patterns/personality in a Creature of his own creation, surviving Karnstein vampires, etc. If they do this I certainly hope they DON'T do remakes. They should do SEQUELS as a nod of respect to the classics. It probably won't happen, but we can dream about it.

As usual, I agree with all you said, HH. Capt. Kronos is a personal fave of mine. It seems every time I bring Kronos up, somebody has something negative to say. I'm glad you're on board, though.

Somehow she has their full attention!
Do you know where you are, Bartolome? I'll tell you where you are. You are about to enter Hell, Bartolome, HELL!...

"In Fear" - I know I brought this up earlier, but this recent, critically acclaimed British film really needs to be seen. Trust me, I'm a very jaded horror fan and I actually jumped a few times. It's a truly great, simple little film with no CGI, supernatural crap, or "found footage". Watch it.

Land Of The Minotaur (aka The Devil's Men) takes a lot of heat from people but I really liked it when I first saw it at the drive-in back in 1977. I realize it isn't a classic but it's pretty hard to dislike a film with Peter Cushing, Donald Pleasence, and Luan Peters.

Luan Peters was in Twins Of Evil, Lust For A Vampire, and The Flesh And Blood Show, among others. Here is a shot of her from an episode of Fawlty Towers.

She's one of my favorite Hammer Hotties, though for maximum Luan exposure check out The Flesh And Blood Show.  ;)

Count me in as a big fan of Captain kronos too! I just love this movie and agree it should have sparked a series. I also really enjoy Land of the Minotaur. One of tje Mill Creek box sets has a really nice widescreen print of it(Mill Creek licenses films from Crown International so they get acess to quality widescreen prints sometimes).
I watched episodes 1-3 of Johnny Sokko last night and, while not monster related, I spent time watching my favorite rabbit in celebration of Easter-Bugs Bunny. I watched disc one of the Looney Tunes Golden Collection 2 which was like 15 Bugs cartoons.

Last night I viewed The Return of Dracula for the first time in years (via youtube). This one's a bit special as it's one of the first monster movies I recall seeing as a youngster.

"Byzantium" - Great, recent, British vampire film. Pretty original, no sparkly vampires.
