I believe I am in the minority here, but I did not care for this one. I thought Batman Begins was a better thought out story and the supporting actors did a much better job in making their roles believable.  (No need to discuss Christian Bale's acting here, because he has yet to do this, IMO).  I understand why many thought Ledger was great in his role, and I do believe Hollywood lost a great actor with his passing, but I found him just above average as The Joker.  Not a popular opinion, but just the way I saw it.  I still find the Animated Series still the best Batman to be put on a screen, especially story wise.

Never seen the animated series, but as a lifelong Batman fan, I'm interested. I also enjoyed Batman Begins, but I think The Dark Knight took it over the top.

To me, The Dark Knight was grim, fast moving, great sub plots and had a defining portrayal of Batman's greatest villian. I thought Nicholson did a fantastic job as the Joker, but Ledger took the cartoon aspect out of it and matched it to the darkness of the movie. In another 20+ years, someone else will come along and redefine our favorites. Its what keeps them fresh.

Last night I watched "Little Shop of Horrors" with my friends. This morning I'm watching "Howard the Duck". The movie certainly has issues, but I don't think it's quite as dreadful as it's been made out to be.

It's showing Friday and Saturday night at George Eastman House. I saw it there in December, and also recommend it highly.

I like the animated series, but have never been satisfied with any TV or movie Joker.  The one in the comics was twisted, and the other media fall short of his evil SICK nature.

Fair comment.  They probably took him as far as they could without being asked to air it on HBO.
