Last night I went to see "Watchmen". This morning I watched "It Came From Outer Space".

I saw Watchmen yesterday. I had read the book a few times over the years and am very familiar with the story. This helped me enjoy the heck out the movie. It really knocked me out. VERY well done on many levels. I heard there were some bad reviews - i would like to know - based on what? It's a complex story with a lot of flashbacks and I guess if you got lost and couldn't connect the dots you might not like it. I loved all the casting and never once thought it was getting too long or dragging.  I love Rorshach. He doesn't sound like Clint Eastwood. Clint Eastwood sounds like HIM.   MINOR SPOILER AHEAD: (like what he tells the inmates after one of them tries something "You think I'm locked up in here with you...".

I hardly ever see movies twice. I will definitely see this more than once And soon!

It's definitely worth going to see. I had very recently reread the trade paperback, so it was easier to spot scenes that were lifted directly from the comic and to catch some of the inside nods. Be warned that the violence is *very* violent and occasionally hard to watch, but it's still a great movie.

I saw WATCHMEN on Sunday and also really liked it.  I hadn't read the graphic novel in many yaers, so it was it was nice to revisit the Watchmen universe again.  I was very happy with the casting, as they used actors that could pull off the characters rather than just filling the film with stars for the sake of using big names.  Oh sure you'll recognize some faces, but they don't interfere with the movie.  An example of bad casting for me was Jack Nicholson in BATMAN.  I never saw the Joker, just Nicholson.  Anyway, in WATCHMEN, you'll recognize Jackie Earle Haley from his youthful performances in BREAKING AWAY and the BAD NEWS BEARS movies.  Here he takes on the grim, psychotic Rorschach and boy does he come across as a great character.

It's definitely NOT a film for kids  AT ALL!  It's rated R for strong graphic violence, sexuality, nudity and language.  The character of Dr. Manhattan spends much of the movie completely naked.  In fact, let's just say we all know that he is not Jewish.  'Nuff said.  I can't say if everyone will like this film, but I did.

Thanks for the reports on The Watchmen.  I remember getting the comics when they first came out (I used to collect and help out at a store each Saturday morning).  I recall there being a lot of hype behind it even then.  If memory serves I remember enjoying it until the end where I thought it kind of fell apart a bit for me.  Alan Moore was REALLY hot then with his run of Swamp Thing and anything he touched was considered gold.

The Picture of Dorian Gray (1945)

Easily in my top ten five novels of all time.  Never have seen the movie.

Day of the Dead (2008) - Not bad as far as direct-to-dvd zombie movies go.  Nothing to do with the original Romero series or the remake of DAWN.  Plenty of stupid mistakes to laugh at, but also relatively believable characters.
