McDougals House of Horror

Mad Love (aka The Hands of Orlac). Peter Lorre is fantastic as a love-starved mad surgeon operating on Dr. Frankenstein (Colin Clive) -- a true classic.

"Do you know what I've got in those crates?"

Insidious & Insidious Chapter 2-The drive-in did a double feature and even though we had already watched Insidious at home previously it was just to cool an opportunity to pass up, how often in this day and age do you get to see sequels shown like this!?  Enjoyed the first one as well as Chapter 2, nothing really ground breaking about either one but they are done quite effectively nonetheless.  Chapter 2 is a hobbled together collage of a bunch of previous cinematic supernatural efforts, while still retaining the Poltergeist vibe of the first one.

Horrible Horror (1986, 2013)

Absolutely awesome! I'm so glad this is rereleased with added content. Almost five hours on two DVDs. The original Horrible Horror has been extended by around an hour and is chock full of Zacherley horror host breaks and jump-ins. I did notice that some of the original lines were left out, however. So, if you want the complete Horrible Horror you need a copy of the original. Spectacular show if you crave a Zach-attack.  8)

Re-Animator.  This might be my most watched horror film.

Agreed. Not to mention, Hallowe'en and The Exorcist.

Star Trek: Into Darkness.  That and Pacific Rim were my favorite movies of the summer.

Phantom Stranger

"Evil Dead" (2013)

Plot:
Mia, a young woman struggling with sobriety, heads to a remote cabin with her brother and a group of friends, where the discovery of a Book of the Dead leads to danger and horror.

Phantom's Review:  Well, I finally got around to seeing the remake and much to my surprise..I liked it. But, even though I liked it, the film in it self is nothing all that special. It's gory as hell, the FX are good and the actors do a fine job, but there's absolutely nothing that makes it stand out from a hundred other films. The original was unique and different for it's time (that's why it's the original, I guess) this film could have been just another sequel it's so unoriginal. Still it's not a bad way to spend an evening. Believe me I've seen worse.
