I hate to advocate drugs, alcohol, violence, or insanity to anyone, but they've always worked for me.

Monster From a Prehistoric Planet 1967 Nikkatsu/AIP TV Fun one shot giant kaiju movie sort of like Gorgo-an expedition finds a cute hatchling bird-like dinosaur on a South Pacific island and bring it to Japan. The baby's angry Mon and Dad soon come calling and wreak destruction across the country. The family is reunited at Haneda airport for a happy ending. The monsters, called Gappa, are pretty neat griffon-esque creations. The male has horns and a tall crest on his head while the female does not, much like real animals. AIP TV released this in 1972 and it was a late night and Saturday afternoon staple from the 70s to the mid 80s.

Gamera vs Monster X 1970 Daiei/AIP TV Gamera's 6th film finds him defending Expo 70 from the evil Mu Empire "Devil Beast" Jiger, aka Monster X in the english dub. Very entertaining entry in the series features some decent FX and miniatures, 3 different monster fights, the destruction of Osaka and alot of footage of the real life Expo 70.

Triumph of the Son of Hercules 1961 Embassy Pictures Fun and exciting Italian sword and sandal yarn features Kirk Morris as Maciste, some cool "Yuri Men" who are hairy cave man types, a cool musical score by Carlo Innocenzi (he scored many of these films) and the extremely catchy Sons of Hercules theme song! Embassy Pictures released a package of 15 or more unrelated Italian sword and sandals as the Sons of Hercules-adding the cool theme song and some opening narration explaining that Hercules had hundreds of sons and that this movie is about so and so, one of the many sons of Hercules. Hercules actually did father about 100 children in the Greek myths, so this series isn't that far off!

Godzilla vs the Thing 1964 Toho/AIP Classic Godzilla outing was the Big G's 4th film and the first one to be released in the US relatively uncut, the 3 previous films were all heavily edited, had new scenes inserted and /or had the music tampered with. AIP wisely left it alone . ZInfact the scene where Godzilla is attacked by the US Navy was filmed specifically for the US version and is not in the Japanese version. Akira Ifukube's music score is breath taking, Godzilla never looked better, nor has Mothra. The adult Mothra prop here had an amazing 25 foot wingspan! Excellent FX abound and the human drama is entertaining and well integrated into the story.
