"The Relic" (1997)
               - Tom Sizemore, Penelope Ann Miller

Plot: IMDB

A researcher at Chicago's Natural History Museum returns from South America with some crates containing his findings. When the crates arrive at the museum without the owner there appears to be very little inside. However, police discover gruesome murders on the cargo ship that brought the crates to the US and then another murder in the museum itself. Investigating the murders is Lt. Vincent D'Agosta who enlists the help of Dr. Margo Green at the museum - she has taken an interest in the contents of her colleague's crates. Unknown to both there is a large creature roaming the museum which is gearing itself up for a benefit reception which the city's mayor is to attend.

Phantom's Review: First let me say that I thought the book this movie was based on was better, but that's the way it is in most adaptations. Now having said that, let me say... I love this movie. A good old fashioned monster movie, a fun story and a very cool monster (Stan Winston does it again) Tom Sizemore is believable as the superstitious cop and Penelope Ann Miler is fine as a no nonsense scientist. A very enjoyable movie.

I hate to advocate drugs, alcohol, violence, or insanity to anyone, but they've always worked for me.

It's been awhile, but this is such a great, creepy movie. That line about angels and devils tearing your life away stays with you. I remember seeing this one in the theater.

- The Wolfman 2009

Caught this on TV. Already saw it this month, but the more I see it, the more I like it. A good modern monster movie.

 The Hearse (1980)

"Jane Hardy decides to stay the summer in the house her aunt left her when she died, to try and recoup from a bad divorce. Little does she know, her aunt practiced witchcraft and is still thought of very badly by the town's citizens. As soon as she moves in, she is haunted by a old black hearse and it's creepy driver. Is she going insane or is she truly being menaced? She meets a friendly young man and becomes involved with him, but is he and the creepy driver one and the same?"

Effective little ghost story until the midpoint ,where it eventually loses its way. 4 bananas.
We're all here because we're not all there.
