Phantom Stranger

"Invisible Invaders" (1959)
                                  -John Agar, John Carradine

Plot: IMDB
Aliens, contacting scientist Adam Penner, inform him that they have been on the moon for twenty thousand years, undetected due to their invisibility, and have now decided to annihilate humanity unless all the nations of earth surrender immediately. Sequestered in an impregnable laboratory trying to find the aliens' weakness, Penner, his daughter, a no-nonsense army major and a squeamish scientist are attacked from outside by the aliens, who have occupied the bodies of the recently deceased.

Phantom's Review: Wonderfully bad, low budget sci-fi -horror film. The zombies move in the same manner as the classic "Night Of The Living Dead" kind of zombies and the acting is way over the top in it's melodrama. Carradine's appearance is just a glorified cameo and John Agar tries his best with what he's got to work with.

"Don't Be Afraid Of The Dark" (2011)

Meh. I wasn't afraid of ANYTHING in this movie. To say that the original beat this one out 10,000 to 1 would be an exercise in restraint. The effects were quite good, the house was Gothic Lite but failed to project any menace. The acting was generally quite good as well, but for whatever reason this foray into the current re-make frenzy just failed to generate anything approaching suspense or chills.

We really WANTED to like this one too. But we don't. Can't imagine the scenario where I'll ever want to see it again.

3 Bananas for effects.

Eraserhead (1977) - The weirdest movie i have ever seen!
I hate to advocate drugs, alcohol, violence, or insanity to anyone, but they've always worked for me.

I know right! John Agar was the best. I especially liked him in Brain from Planet Arous-he was creepy as heck!

The last few weeks I watched:
"Species" (1995): enjoyable alien menace flick. Some of the CGI work late in the film looks dated by today's standards, but it wasn't bad enough to spoil the movie for me. It doesn't hurt that Natasha Henstridge is mighty easy on the eyes ;)
"Morons from Outer Space" (1985): every bit as dreadful as the title suggests.
"Alien from L.A." (1988): unwatchable crap.
"The Man from Planet X" (1951): low budget sci-fi thriller. One of the few 50's space menace flicks that doesn't make the alien totally unsympathetic. Not a bad movie.
"The Angry Red Planet" (1960): goofy but enjoyable space opera. The acting is bottom drawer, but the Martian critters are a hoot.

just watched the invisible man for the first time, i really loved it, the invisible man seamed alot like a gangster to me. He just had that gangster attitude about getting people back and power, and he was a really violent guy. This was a true classic. >:D
