How can you say that?

The Words Get Stuck In My Throat

I just re-watched Last House on the Left for the first time since '78 or so--really didn't remember the beginning too well because I'd seen it at a drive-in and it wasn't really dark enough when they started the show.
Good Lord!  That is awful!!!!!
Long live the UMA!

Your kiddin right? I've seen this at least 12 times in the last couple years. Better than Dawn or Day of.

It's just more of the same. It's like arguing over which Star Wars flick is better. It's all the same stuff slightly modified.  Zombieland kicks its butt.

Yesterday I watched the Dolph Lundgren version of "Masters of the Universe" (1987). Frank Langella as Skeletor is pretty much the only thing that saves it from being a total crapfest.

Sorry, Scatter, I'm the one who recomended "Land...". I still stick by it, though. Zombieland was good but way too jokey for me. "Shaun of the dead" had the perfect balance of humor and horror in that field. Maybe only getting to the 20 min point robbed you of the best moments of the film (not to mention some inspired zombie kills).Definately better than "Day of the Dead" and many other films in the genre.

Moonshadow

Been on a Hammer kick lately. Watched "Plague of the Zombies" and "The Mummy" the last two days. I hadn't seen "Plague" before. While I  enjoyed the overall atmosphere and the actors, I felt like there simply wasn't enough zombie action for me. I'd seen "The Mummy" before, although it's been years. I prefer this version to the Universal original. Christopher Lee's Kharis has such an impressive physical presence - I love seeing him knock doors off their hinges and strangle the life out of people!

PLEASE don't be sorry buddy.........I've discovered some fantastic flicks through recommendations, and I appreciate you sharing a film you're passionate about. I'm just not about "inspired kills", myself. When a script is crafted solely to get quickly from one kill to the next kill, I simply get bored, no matter how much pseudo-intellectual social commentary is tossed in gratis. I'm just not amused or shocked anymore no matter how many ways George can get a head to explode. It's like cinematic Ambien to me.

I agree with you completely about Zombieland vs Shaun.........Shaun is in a class of its own. But the reason I like Zombieland is because it achieved something that Romero USED to achieve. It was outside the box. NOTLD was outside the box, but George just built a new box around that and never escaped.

Of course, that's entirely subjective, and that's EXACTLY what makes this so much FUN!! If I didn't take a chance on stuff like this I would have missed out on BOTH Zombieland and Shaun before that, because I was burnt out on zombies long before these came out. The next thing you recommend may ignite a whole new obsession for me!!

And by the same token, if I talk you into trying "Whoever Slew Auntie Roo" or "Sunset Boulevard", you may wonder what the hell I was smoking LOL!!
