Lazarus

Uzumaki, or Spiral (2000).

Adaptation of a Junji Ito manga, the king of Japanese Horror comics.  It's okay.  It's got some creepy imagery and is well shot.  There's a lovely looking animated version coming out next year I'll definitely be watching.

Interestingly, this version was produced before the manga it is based on had been completed, so the ending and origin of the feature problems is completely different.

THE RETURN OF GODZILLA (1984) - Interesting to watch as I'd only seen GODZILLA 1985 before.  If took me back to the late '80s, when Number 1 Son and I watched Godzilla movies all the time.

LA CASA DEL TERROR (1960) - Finally got to see this on YouTube. It even had English subtitles. Really enjoyed seeing Lon back as the Wolf Man (even though they never call him that and changed up his origin, but c'mon - that's our guy.)  Lots of werewolf screen time and he even gets to draw dripping blood.

THE MONSTER MAKER (1944) - Always liked this PRC entry.  Good performances from J. Carrol Naish and Ralph Morgan, plus some fine makeup.

THE VAMPIRE BAT (1933) - Been a while, but always like seeing this for Dwight Frye, Fay Wray and Lionel Atwill.

Decades ago I snuck out of bed and turned on the tv. The screen warmed to Wolfie and Frankie battling. Rushing water suddenly swept them away. Role credits. Mind blown. My first exposure to Universal Monsters. Last night our daughter walked in while I was watching it. Guess what scene?
