Tombs of the Blind Dead~Just about everything a Euro horror fan could want.  I blind (no punintended) purchased the Blue Underground coffin set back when it came out and was not disappointed; love these creepy flicks.  The lead ghouls are such a hauntingly brilliant visual.

The Ghost Galleon~The much maligned third entry in the Blind Dead series.  Horrible miniatures aside, I still enjoy this film.  One of the great things about the Blind dead quadrilogy is that each film works as a standalone; writer/director Amando de Ossorio was always tweaking/reinventing the origin tale.

Apparently there is a new Blind Dead film (unrelated to Ossorio's films) coming in 2019, Curse of the Blind Dead, set in a post apocalyptic world; looks interesting but I think the ghouls look worse than the originals did.

Plaguetown- Unique film. A small English village becomes hell for vacationing American family. The villagers can no longer produce "normal" children, and decide to turn tourists into baby factories. Great fun for the entire family.

Return of the Vampire, 1943 - The tale of a non-Dracula Vampire and his werewolf adjutant, bracketed by the two World Wars.

Bela Lugosi and Matt Willis.

Wonderfully atmospheric movie with lots of foggy cemetery settings.  Makes good use of its limited budget.

Just watched the Scream Factory Blu-Ray.  The image is quite good and it has a lovely, clear (hiss-free) soundtrack.  I also watched all three of its commentaries.

Note:  Scream Factory describes this film as being presented in 1.33:1 format.  What we get is clearly a proper 1.37:1 print that does not crop the sides.

I would discount the first Commentary as being too detached and dealing far too much with comparing vampire tales in various decades and being a little too broad in scope for my taste.  It suffers by being a lengthy treatise that was written before this edition of the movie and being quite long - forcing the author to read it at far too fast a pace to absorb.  As a written article it may be OK - But it was clearly never intended to be a speech.

The other two Commentaries are delivered at a much more conversational rate and are packed with details about the film, studio conditions, Lugosi's circumstances at the time, etc. and facts about the other actors.  Even better, those commenting were aware of each others' efforts and strove not to repeat what the other was telling us - making it a joy to listen to both.  Highly recommended.

The abridged 8mm silent version of the film is the sort of thing that Blackhawk films would be selling in the dark years before video tape.  The print is in awful condition, but who cares?

Groundhog Day, 1993 - Déjà vu allover again, and again, and again, and again.

Bill Murray and Harold Ramos' best work.

Very possibly one of that rare breed, the perfect movie.  The one movie I am compelled to watch on the same day, year after year, after year.

The Descent (2006)-
I haven't watched this in ages...still holds my interest. Young, thrill-seeking, females go spelunking in some obscure caves. Little do they know, that vampiric creatures happen to reside there. Really good thriller.
