Monsters For Sale

Big Legend, 2018 - Ex army Ranger takes his girlfriend camping to his secret Special Place.  There he proposes to her.  She is taken during the night by what he thinks was a Bigfoot and he is left beaten and traumatized.

After a year in a psych hospital, he is ready to tell the doctors it must have been a bear.  He is released and goes back to the woods to search for his fiancĂ©.  There, he meets an older Bigfoot hunter living in the forest and they join forces.

Stars Kevin Makely, Todd A. Robinson, Summer Spiro, Amanda Wyss, Lance Henriksen and Adrienne Barbeau.

Pretty photography.  Starts slow and ends inconclusively.  Intense action in the middle.  Adrienne Barbea is seen briefly as the veteran's mother and Lance Henriksen is wasted in a small part at the end.

Movie-quality cinematography and acting, but has the feel of a possible TV pilot.

Not bad.  (Wish member Unknown Primate was here to see this one.)

Monsters For Sale

#16788
Virus, 1980 - American spies pay an East German scientist to provide a sample of a military-engineered virus.  The plane carrying the sample crashes and most of mankind dies.  The only survivors are some Antarctic scientists and the crew of an American submarine.  They must find an antidote to survive.

The survivors are a few hundred men and 8 women.  Naturally, the men's "needs" must be met to reduce tension and to prevent certain body parts from turning blue.  So the women are matter-of-factly informed that they will be required to adhere to a rigid service schedule each day.  (For the most part, the ladies accept this necessity with calm good nature.)

Stars Glen Ford, Robert Vaughan, Olivia Hussey, Chuck Connors and George Kennedy.

If they ever re-make this one, I would anticipate cultural updates.

I watched the 105 min. English version of this Japanese film.  The Japanese version is 40 minutes longer and ends differently.  It is titled: "Day of Resurrection".

Interesting.

M (1931) - finally got to see this. Absolutely amazing! A bit long, but well worth it. Peter Lorre and the ending are unforgettable.

The German version with subtitles. I found the language very interesting and realistic.

Lorre's big speech is much better in German, than in English, for some reason.
