The Day After, 1983 - The United States suffers the effects of an all-out nuclear war.  This is the story of some Kansans who survived the initial blasts and are dealing with the aftermath.

Jason Robards, JoBeth Williams, John Lithgow and Steve Guttenberg in what was one of the most-seen TV programs ever.  Originally aired on TV, it did have a theatrical release in a longer running time, so I am posting this here.

The new Blu-Ray edition offers both versions of the movie in really great color and clarity.  I didn't remember it looking this good.   Holds up very well for an old TV movie.  Quality stands the test of time.

I saw this in the theater, and I couldn't get it out of my mind for weeks. It was so effective, it became water cooler talk at schools, jobs, and family dinner tables. I don't think I've seen the TV version. Which do you like best?

I've never done a side-by-side comparison.  My understanding is that nothing in the TV version was left out of the theatrical cut - so, I gotta say I like the big screen edit best.

Even if the theatrical version doesn't add a whole lot of material that was too intense for TV audiences, the fact that it would have made the suffering seem to drag out longer seems to be appropriate to the tale being told.  It is all about prolonged suffering; it shouldn't be over too soon.

 Scars of Dracula
Dracula A.D.

I've always had a fondness for "Scars..." I love the castle scenes. A.D. is just plain, groovy fun. Love the opening sequence.

Memphremagog

The Adventures Of Sherlock Holmes(1939)
Mothra(1961)
The Whip and the Body(1963)
Face Of Fu Manchu(1965)
DARK SHADOWS:

David Collins: "Dead people dont just get up and walk around.."

Sarah Collins: "Sometimes they do."

The Endless, 2017 - Two brothers receive a video message that causes them to return to a UFO/self-castration/suicide cult that they had escaped years earlier.  What they find there causes them to question all their beliefs in what is and isn't real.

Presented by the same folks who brought you "Spring" - and every bit as strange.  Reveals itself slowly at first and builds steadily in intensity.

I liked it.

What did you guys think of this one?

Truth or Dare, 2017 - "Tell the truth, or you die.  Do the dare, or you die."

The young actors were unknown to me but all of them were very good.

OK "what would YOU do?" horror story.

Limitless, 2011 - What if you where given a pill that would allow you to use 100% of your brain's power?

Part sci-fi, part crime drama, all thriller.  Stars Bradley Cooper and Robert De Niro.

At least the characters in this movie have reasons for the wrong choices they make.  They are taking mind-altering drugs.

Not a bad movie.

OK "what would YOU do?".

It's a no brainer! You tell the truth! Unless you'd rather die than do so. The "dare" could be something that could also get you killed, so what do you have to lose?

I watched this one recently. I thought it was entertaining to the very end. I liked the solution they came up with.

The Satanic Rites of Dracula
The Legend of the 7 Golden Vampires

I can't find much to like about "Satanic Rites", but "7 Golden Vampires" has grown on me. The mix of martial arts and vampire lore is pretty unique.
