Coherence, 2013 - On the night of a very large comet's closest flyby, four couples get together for dinner.  The first indication that all is not well is that phones malfunction.  Then the lights go out - and things get weird.

Didn't know any of the actors in this one, but there performances were OK.  Some of the handheld camera work was disorienting - but that may have been on purpose.  Very different from the usual, linear story telling.

It probably didn't help that I was a little sleepy and kept losing the thread of the story and having to back the movie up to recapture what was happening.  This one was a little hard to follow for me.  I think it deserves a re-watch.

Interesting film.

What did you guys think of this one?

Adam, i really liked "Coherence". Don't ask me to explain it, but I really liked The disoriented feeling it brings. It reminds me of something that would have fit well with "The Twilight Zone". I've watched it a few times, and I can't fully crack it.

Funny, I thought it would fit in the Twilight Zone canon, too.

Yep, it sort of reminds me of Twilight Zone's "The Monsters are Due on Maple St" crossed with Outer Limit's " A Feasibility Study" .

The Last Starfighter, 1984 - A tale of vindication for all those kids accused of wasting their lives playing video games.

Fun, funny comic book science fiction with over-the-top heroic music and the world's most charming trailer park.

I've always thought it was funny that Last Starfighter was released in July of 1984 and Back To the Future was released in July of 1985 - and both films used DeLoreans as the basis for flying vehicles.

Creepy

I watched The Shape of Water last night and absolutely loved it.
